Where will I find MiFi routers for sale in SA, and what should one expect to pay for such a device?

Yup, I resucitated a dead thread.

Tell me, why is mifi so small in SA? Is it because of the price of a device. I think its awesome. I could use it for my tablet, laptop, friends laptop etc.

Why isnt it more popular?

Personally you can connect 4 Devices to it Right. If you pull the Simcard (meaning no internet access)

You've got your own Personal Wifi HotSpot (Wifi Lan). It just requires one USB port to power it. Not sure if you can setup the security to it.

But if you goto a LAN-Party and it's only 3-4 guys and you don't want cables involved. (Or maybe at the Office but don't want to affect your Company's Network. Do it Mifi)

Obviously its also nice to use when you have a Laptop, Netbook and a Tablet. (Nice to connect all 3 Devices to one Simcard - Sharing the cap between all 3 Devices) - No need for cables.

Only downside i see, The device only lasts 4hours. (When Fully charged and then you use it till it dies)

My 2cents

I had a wifi router with my adsl. Using a Huawei R201 now that I got mofaya. Connected to PC all the time and wifi to my PS3.

It should not be that expensive:
