Might EASSy start another bandwidth price war?

Farking Telkom and their grip on the Local Loop. At this rate we'll be paying 10 bucks per month for uncapped and R 600 for the line.

We must be approaching the limit where local bandwidth is more costly then the international portion?

Pretty much already there. If you purchase capacity(not lease) on SEACOM, it is cheaper for international transit than IPC(ISP to your house).

How is this aggresively priced? R2450 a month per mbps VS. the R1300 odd that TENET indicated it was paying for SEACOM bandwidth a few months ago?

TENET's pricing is ridiculously low and not market related at all. They received a special deal from SEACOM - basically get their bandwidth sponsored because they serve educational institutions. Look at the previous SEACOM commercial prices we published for a better comparison.

It took Seacom about 9 months to reach us end users.. so I would expect the EASY based packages to start appearing around March/April next year
