Anybody suffer from them. I haven't had one in about ten years, but this week I have had four, including one today which was so bad I was almost in tears. Migraine sufferers - what triggers yours and how do you treat them?

Not sure what your circumstances have been in the last week, but dehydration could be a factor, whenever a headache or migraine emerges I drink a glass or two of water.

Water help rinse toxins and replenishes the waterlevel of cells.

Going to the movies on a bright sunny day - instant headache (light sensitivity).
Dehydration - I tend to forget to drink liquids sometimes, a headache reminds me.

I get bad ones all the time, the only thing that seems to help is two Syndols - -they contain Codeine, so don't take too many.

Mine are triggered by lack of sleep, glare (driving without sunglasses), MSG, alcohol, too much strong coffee. But sometime I can't figure out why they happened, I think that stress is also a factor.

Note : I also agree with wrathex, dehydration definitely plays a role.

Thanks both, gonna drink a lot of water for sure. I think I'm also coming down with a cold or flu and coupled with a lot of work stress might be the trigger. I can't think of anything deitary that is suddenly triggering all these migraines this week.

If you are using a CRT monitor, make sure the refresh rate is set to 75Hz or higher. I found that anything lower usually triggers a migraine for me. The same goes for CRT televisions that have some kind of issue which causes it to have a noticeable flicker.

Once in a while I also get one from wearing a hat for extended periods if it is hot outside.

Weirdest thing is this morning I woke up with one. A killer one actually.

See if changing pillows won't make a difference. You may be straining specific neck muscles which could also trigger it.

too much partying would do it :erm: :D

Though it could be a lot to do with what either Gundam, Jola or wrathex said.

hmm i have a huge headache coming on!

Started drinking water now, i drank a lot of cooldrink yesterday so i guess it is dehydration.

Had my first migraine about a month ago and also the day before an exam.

Tried to study during the morning and then I started seeing spots, at first I tried washing my face with cold water and also tried to focus while reading, but it did not help. Then nausea & headache's kicked in...had a glass of water, tried some Panado's and later Grandpa's but it all came out again.

What helped me the most was lying in a dark room with a cold wet cloth on my face.

It was my first migraine and hopefully I will never have one again!

Many people also use caffeine to help get some relief from migraines.

The last time a mate had something like that he died from a aneurysm. Don't want to be a alarmist or anything but sometimes a check up is in order.

Oh ****....

Going to the doctor this morning. :o:eek::(

Eish mate. I've only had one migraine in my life and that was during a flipping exam. Felt like I was gonna throw up the entire time. Needless to say I flunked the exam :/

Definitely agree about the water thing. Even if I feel a slight headache coming up, I have 2 or 3 glasses of water.

My wife suffers badly from them, triggered by not drinking enough fluids, stress and over tiredness. If she manages the above...then normally she is fine.

A big contributing factor towards migraines is actually dairy products and chocolate believe it or not.

My migraines are starting to increase in number but i think mine are triggered by stress, lack of sleep and overexposure to sunlight. the number of migraines are increasing and i haven't found a solution yet. thanks for the thread i'll be sure to try a few things to lessen the attacks
