Thinking about this some more. I was watching a video about an automatic apple picking machine.Oh I’m not debating that it has real world effects.
But the unemployed and the minimum wage really have nothing to do with each other.
Let's say you need to employ 100 staff at minimum wage to pick your orchards. The government now raises the minimum wage. At some point, the cost of the automatic picking machine will crossover with the cost of labor.
If the farmer now buys that machine it makes say 95 out of those 100 staff members redundant.
The crossover point will obvious differ from industry to industry as tech is available etc but the cost of labor directly affects employment numbers.
