Minimum Website Requirements

Okay I have access to the control panel and I have made an sql database. Now I can't seem to access the site at all...

Even if I put an index.html in /wwwroot/ , when I try to navigate there it says it cannot be found.

Hi Pooky,

I hope you don't mean that you cannot access the site at wwwroot in your browser? If that is the case, of course you won't be able to. :D

Has the domain been used before on another site or are you using it for the first time now? I'm guessing you haven't set the domain up on the root folder.

To be completely honest I also think you should get Linux hosting (perhaps the free package from byethost.com) that includes Vista panel or Cpanel. It will really make your job a lot easier.

Also, I'm sure WordPress or Joomla alone will be good enough for the site. Both can easily help you create static pages, contact forms, galleries and a personal blog side. To be honest, I think most CMSs can do that.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice.

I can't get any other hosting as the person is getting this hosting and domain name for free.

I meant I cannot access the site even if I make an index.html in wwwroot and then just go to the domain name. It has never been used before.
