I received an email from [email protected], telling me about possible outage in Cape Town. See, they can do it if they put they mind to it. Well done WBS. And thank you. [ I had commented earlier on the need for periodic maintenance updates to subscribers, from WBS, for us to determine possible impact on the modem end, and it may be catching on ].

what email address was it posted to the one you used before WBS or a WBS one

its the one you specifiy when you sign up, i received it too. Told them in no unclear manner that they're lazy bastards and should have it on file that i am NOT in cape town and an easy Select * from users where region = 'cape town' would have saved them the....

nevermind....they can go ahead and be idiots... I'll just block all their messages as spam

Surely that's a bit harsh...?

Seeing as WBS iBurst has a mobility aspect to it, how can WBS possibly predict that their Jhb customers won't be in CT at the time of the outage...?

Granted you aren't likely to be doing an important demo to a customer at 23:00 during the outage.

Since it looks like Telkomonopoly have no interest in telling me if I can actually get ADSL, I am prepared to stick with my original iBurst decision provided Olivedale/Nothriding-BS gives me some speed & reliability, therefore it is worthwhile pushing for the excellent suggestions that have already been made...

If I'm not mistaken, Alchamy suggested that WBS send us sms notifications for base-stations that we select via an online system. I hope that does get implemented by WBS - it would drastically reduce the need to call the Helpdesk & pay Telkomonopoly for the privelege, which in turn would reduce the overload on the Helpdesk itself - limiting calls to problems unrelated to base-stations being down.

while posting this it says vowthorn has 666 posts, thats some evil shh

Think about it for a second. If they can see which tower my UTD/UTC connects to, they will be able to notice the region where the tower is. If region <> myregion then dontsendthefrikkingemail

Yes sure, it's nice to know, but getting an email from WBS where someone says "i am now going to wipe my ass and it will take 5 minutes and then i might masturbate over Shaun's desk" does not effect me, nor do i care.

I'm on important projects as it is, and each minute wasted is a minute closer to not getting paid. WBS does not realise its clients use the internet to make money  and that is one of the things that seriously pissed me off the last couple of months. They expect us to have such deep pockets and trust in them, yet, they don't prove they can be trusted, nor do i have very deep pockets *lie*

Im agitated about this

dude, u guyz r the ones that posted that iBurst dont notify us of crap and that they dont care jack about their customers. It's good that they sent an email, telling us in advance

well lets be honest, most of us arent in cape town, if you are then it was probably an awesome email, otherwise its just trash

hey I just had a thought, I hope WBS dont get too touchy feely by sending all this email that has no relavence to me when the cap is here, cuz that just helps eat away my precious bandwith

slim. You can't call it trash. That email i received from WBS was under 2KB - how does that affect your cap? It's important for businessmen travelling from city to city to be notified about the status of their service. Atleast WBS are notifying their customers about their status, imagine if they didn't? What would you have said then?
