Hi,
I live in a retirement village and a number of the residents moved from ADSL to the LTE offerings from Telkom because of the cost reduction, after a presentation by a Telkom rep.
a) They were told by the Telkom store that there WAS Telkom LTE coverage and the Telkom coverage site does indicate coverage for the whole village.
b) Most of them now experience problems with internet and specifically e-mail access.
c) I tested one location, at all places in the house, and got MyBroadband speeds of Dwn 1-6Mbps and Up 0,2-0,5Mbps. Nowhere NEAR LTE speeds. With these speeds the resident could not even connect to his mail server and it timed out. If I take the router 1km down the road or climb onto the roof - Great (not LTE) speeds.
My question. Which is the best route to complain/get service ?
1) Recommend that they buy a Poyntings antenna and get it installed (Cost!!!)
2) Complain to Telkom and ask that Telkom install an antenna and get the speed up to LTE speed ,which is what they advertise, at their cost (I don’t have much hope that it will get past the front desk !)
3) Complain to ASA about misleading advertising and get the coverage map update so that it is realistic and persons don’t get ripped off. Then complain to Telkom that they misled the person.
4) Any other suggestion??
