Pretoria - Police will be using quad bikes and microlight aircraft to hunt for a second man in connection with the disappearance of seven-year-old Sheldean Human on Sunday.
Sheldean's mother, Elize Human, first noticed the girl was missing when she called her to come in for her bath at 19:00. She was last seen playing with friends in the front garden of her Pretoria Gardens home on Sunday evening.
Investigating officer André Smith said of the man for whom they are looking: "He is a friend of the man we have detained.
"We're busy getting more information on him right now."
Police have been questioning the first man, a 27-year-old, detained since last night.
No information has emerged yet from the questioning.
The man still claims he took the girl and her friends out for ice cream and returned her to her home.
Smith said: "He's sticking with the same story."
The police had received information that the seven-year-old girl was seen travelling in a bakkie with two unknown men close to her home.
The girl had gone with two friends for ice cream with the man who is now in custody.
Police have confirmed there will be another search for the missing girl from 17:00 on Wednesday, once again with the help of the community.
Smith said: "We will be using quad bikes and microlight aircraft to cover a bigger area this time."
