Anybody having issues on the Swartklip exchange? I'm in Portland's Mitchell's Plain, but I all of a sudden lost sync and now my line is dead.

Spoke to Telkom, and they said a technitian needs to be sent out.

Is there a dialling tone on your landline?

I understand copper theft is a major issue out on that side.

Yeh theft is a pain here this side unfortunately. Dialing tone is fine, no problems. If I'm affected, would everybody here not be affected?
 
anybody having issues on this exchange? currently i have no sync, no throughput nothing
 
cant think that they have a big uptake in the area. could be wrong though. what was the issue the last time?
Congestion, latency was close on 600ms but latency is now around 13ms. Now though my line has just gone flat, no sync, no throughput nothing

I don't think it is, but there are 2 exchanges. Swartklip 1 and 2. 1 is full, and I'm on 2, so it could well be a good uptake in the area. That exchange doesnt just service my area, so many others could be connected to it.
 
So does anybody know about this exchange having a network failure issue. Spoke to technical, and they saying the exchange ie swartklip 2 is down.

My voice and adsl connectivity has been down since yesterday, no dial tone, no sync.
 
Happened in Strandfontein as well this morning. Dont know if its on yet.
 
yeh its become an issue now. They said its due for an upgrade that exchange, but they could not give any time frames of when that will be done.

I spoke to Technical now. They said there is a problem between the exchange and my property. I called someone who lives in the area and their landline seems to be working. What was wrong with yours the last time. I currently have no dialing tone.

Well a technician was supposed to be dispatched today. Never pitched but the voice line came back after 8 days.

just hope i dont have to wait 8 days. i will be taking to twitter every hour if this is not sorted out by tomorrow.
 
So I got a message to say they busy with upgrades. Is this just the standard response they are giving everybody who reports problems because I checked their noticeboard and their is no upgrades in my area when I search my number.

What sort of upgrade? At the exchange or where? I would be happy if they busy upgrading this exchange, as they indicated a while back its due for some form of upgrade.

They sorted my landline out at the exchange yesterday, then the technician came around and said he was there to fix the landline. We then told him the line was already back up, and he said he fixed it at the exchange. So I have no idea why he said he was there to fix the line, when he apparently already did a fix at the exchange

I assume this is the exchange in San Remo/ Bay View since there is only one in the area. I don't know what kind of upgrade, they don't specify. Its strange that they now say they busy upgrading but yesterday and this morning they said there is a fault on my line so what exactly is it? Their website aslo don't indicate any upgrades for the area.
