MiWay - Bait and Switcch

AON just sent a guy round to my house to value everything to make sure I'm not over/under insured. Try get a "brokerless" insurance to do that.

Aon took over Santam's insurance operation and I've been happy with them before and after the takeover. It isn't the cheapest but up until now they've been ethical in their behaviour and they have payed out promptly when we've had issues with no attempts to stuff us over.

AON hasn't taken over Santam's insurance? I was covered with Santam when I was with INDWE.

They are just brokers.

Find a broker, or hit up Santam or Mutual and Federal directly - all of those tv commercial places are absolute rubbish (Outsurance, Budget, MiWay, etc).

People should stop drinking the Outsurance cool-aid. Going without a broker is silly unless you know the industry. They have a lot more influence than a single individual and can negotiate better rates. We went with a broker after going direct to an insurance company and not only did he cut our total insurance by 20%, he increased our cover by 50%. Also brokers can identify risk that the general customer is not aware of.

+100. My broker sort stuff out no hassles and I pay less than Outsurance could dream to charge me.

Today, I get a letter from them saying a whole bunch of BS about the exchange rate, and saying that my excess will be increased from R0 to R3300, and if I dont want my excess to increase, my premium will increase significantly.
Same thing. I was about to leave MiWay last month since I got a better deal through FNB Brokers. MiWay bettered theirs, and now this.

Kotvou brokers...GOGOGOGO. Best thing I ever did. Insurance dropped by a third and cover increased.
Also, Herman gave me a run through of what will be covered when etc.
No one else ever told me that if you do not specify your electronic items such as PC, TV and their values, that they would only be fractionally covered by most insurance companies. Specifying does not increase your premium.

??? That triggered my "Idon'tbelief" alarm

You're right about Aon/Santam. I got confused with Glenrand MIB who we are with. Apologies for the error and I'll update my post.

Get a broker. You are paying "broker fees" anyway when you go direct.

MiWay also 'promised' to give me a lower premium, and after jumping through all their hoops it was about R400 more than what I'm currently paying. This after I told them I'd already got a previous quote from them which was too high. Retards.

Anyway, also with Santam through a broker. No hassles, and paid out promptly whenever we've had issues. Will definitely recommend having a good broker take care of crappy side of insurance.

Never go with a company that relies that heavily on advertising. Someone has to pay for all those TV/Radio adds. Good companies rely on word of mouth. Bad companies rely on a new fool believing their adds each day. This is why I never use people like Outsurance, Mi-Way, etc.

Contacted Indwe this morning via their contact form. No response yet.

Think I'll have to phone this morning.

**** OutSurance, **** MiWay, **** the Hippo, they're all in the same boat. Just go to a broker and go with Santam.

I actually had the opposite experience. Always used MF, and after having issues with the broker where I was literally having to do his work for him, phoned mf and asked if I could deal with them directly. Said yes and got a nice reduction in my premiums. If we have any problems I phone and they put me in touch with a rep who does everything a broker would do anyway.

In other words, a broker :p
