Question of the Day: Will you be subscribing to the new Disney+ R49 streaming package?
Something thats always bothered me about wifi hotspots in SA, in particular popular area's for such services, like airports, hotels etc. I mean last time i worked out, it was more expensive than mobile and mobile is costly :-O Maybe things have changed with the saix way of per usage billing -shrug- doubt it tho.

HSDPA is faster for me most of the time too. It is like the Wifi guys only have 384 kb/s ADSL lines as their backhaul
I never quite got with the public WiFi hype.. it's just not convenient. Hotspots are so rare. The only time it's really convenient is once in a while, maybe at the airport or a coffee shop that you know has one.
Except I regularly have issues when I'm connected using my phone (N95) and vodacom with my notebook where the connection "stops" yet I'm still connected. I haven't had these issues with Wifi... But I suppose that could be my phone not behaving...?

I truly can't understand this article. They're talking about O2 and Vodafone so they're obviously talking about UK/Western Europe. Now when I was there, mobile data cost R124/mb (I **** you not, neither does my R10,000 bill) but the WiFi spots are all free. Every hotel and every plaza/public square has free WiFi in Western Europe. As I understand it, you can't even get data bundles from O2...

Our Wi-Fi spots are expensive, and take about 9 minutes to get going, which is more than the time I usually have to arb around at the airport.

I am on-the-go a lot and find Wi-Fi very convenient, especially as you get a specified amount of free Wi-Fi connectivity at venues like News Cafe, MacDonalds and Mugg & Bean.
More and more venues pop up offeirng unlimited free Wi-Fi access, and Wi-Fi is faster that 3G, so who wouldnt enjoy the technology under such circumstances?
