Now if only we could get Vodacom and MTN to drop their out of bundle rates from R1.20 to 8c per MB. Things are defiantly moving in the right direction though :)

How does Neotel's normal (older offerings) product pricing per GB or MB compare to this new offering?

EDIT:

Been browsing through Neotel's current offerings like prime and Neoflex Data.

There isn't much to rave about here honestly.

Pricing is basically the same to Prime with no benefits, ie: the 500 free on-net minutes that you would get with Prime.
This still based on the CDMA network - so what's to rave about.
It's going to have the same effect as taking your Prime handset or Neoflex data router around with you in your car.
Now you've got a smaller option, that's all.

Once again Neotel not showing anything besides that they're not ready to shake up the market yet.
Still with the 24 month contracts and the following T&C's is weird for me.

There are currently 2 different payment options available for the NeoGo Datacard 1.5G service:

A financed option, whereby the data card is purchased over a 24 month period:
The service fee, including the device fee, is billed at R299.00pm.

The non device financed option, whereby the datacard is purchased upfront, for R1,499.00 (incl. VAT), for a 24 month period:
The service fee is then billed month-to-month at R239.00pm.
Cancellation of the service requires a 30 day written notice, with no cancellation fees.
Today, get a bigger bundle with hidden costs you’ll want to see.

So if I were to buy it upfront it'd only be good for 24months and then would be inactive after that period?

Also back to my original question at the top - the comparison between older offerings and this one.

Look at Neoflex data 5GB for instance.

R499 for 5GB - take away the R100 for the device that's fixed into that and you're effectively looking at R399

So you can get 5GB for R399, but with this "new" offer you can get 1.5GB for R160 less on the non financed option of the new NeoGo Data offering @ R239
Baffles the mind

At the end of the day - really looks like Neotel is doing a good job of fscking around and not getting to grips with what we want and whom we are.

I don't need to hear the BS of Neoflex Data is a product designed for SME's, Prime for home/heavy users and NeoGo Data for "the man on the move".
Fact is: It's still the same network, ToxicBunny along with many others here pointed out quite monosylabically; "Data is DATA!!!!"

Why must there be so many discrepancies between data pricing with Neotel?
The towers used remain the same, the network is the same, coverage is the same.
Give differing pricing on the hardware used to access the network, yes.
But it would seem Neotel is veering along the same lines as Telkom, by confusing the consumer and differentiating on pricing that should effectively be the same.

This stinks almost as much as local vs international access dammit.

DATA IS DATA!

As much as I like the 8c per MB out-of-bundle on NeoGo .. it doesn't help PAYG people who refuse to be locked into contracts. They do have the best pricing now (bonus)

DATA IS DATA!

So what is the actual total monthly cost if I want to join up (when NoGO is finally available in PE)?

I think Neotel's offers are improving, but without coverage it's pretty useless. 8c/MB is great though :)

What flavor cheese would you like today?

I would rather pay the extra money and know that I will get coverage in most places go in South Africa.

Strangely enough, I think the best value for money price/data/speed is Telkom's HSDPA. I could be mistaken though.

I hope it doesn't take Nashua months to get their hands on the modem. I'd like to take it for a hands-on test drive before I sign-up.

Biggest issue with this is that I have to go out and buy yet another f**king modem. I have a 3G stick modem. If I could use that I might be tempted, especially if they had a pay as you go option. But there is no way I am forking out R1.5k for something when all the reports I have been reading about their network are that it is carp and their service stinks.

Will stick to voda thanks. At least I know I will have coverage, get roughly the speed I am paying for, can use my data over 2 months and numerous other reasons.

This is monopoly and we the public will keep filling up the pockets of the money hungry data mongers. We will be tapped dry before they would make data cheaply availible.

Sounds to me like the Vodacom and MTN network sprung up overnight. Like there was never a time when every second call was dropped because you were out of coverage. My how time flies.

One word for Neotel! "COVERAGE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make sure you've got that right before 2010 hits us and you will be number one  WTF don't they learn
