mobile data icon missing from status bar LG G4

For some reason the mobile data icon is absent from my phone's homescreen. My mobile data still seems to work but no indication of it with an H,E or 3G symbol with the up and down arrows. When I connect to wifi the wifi symbol shows up though.

Anybody experienced this/know how to fix it?
 
Tried that and a battery and sim removal with no joy. Where can I get the right apn settings for mtn?
 
Appears to be quite a common problem with some Android devices and ROM versions. Here is a thread on the issue with a proposed solution:

Perhaps Power Toggles can help by forcing it on/off. A few other suggestions would be to wipe the cache, and as a last resort, to reset to factory defaults, or to update to a later ROM version...
