Hey Guys.

1. I want to be able to monitor network usage like here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...-on-home-lan-(multiple-computers-and-devices)

2. But also restrict network usage.

I have started with Endian Community, am I on the right track?

I am struggling to get any internet at this stage through endian, I can ping websites but no website will load, I can also access the ADSL router.

I hope I am making sense.
Thanks
Peder

Mikrotik will do everything you requested. You can set up DHCP on it, and force devices to take on the same IP when it connects, and queue that IP address to whatever speed. You won't be able to do data quantity queuing though.

Get a cheap RB9412. they are like R500, and watch some online tutorials. The learning curve is steep, but once you have it down you are golden.

By restrict I mean not allow certain websites etc. Can the mikrotik do that?

Where do I get Mikrotic?

I tried using pfSense but it is extremely difficult to use, or maybe I am not understanding the terminology.

I guess it depends what you're used to. I find pfSense has one of the most intuitive interfaces.

But if you do ever need help with pfSense in the future just shout.

mikrotik, queue tree and layer 7 filter rules.....problem solved. Oh forgot you can also marks ports/packets and set priority rules on them...... Mikrotik for the win, you wont regret it.
