So my Samsung T260 is giving up on life and I need to look at a replacement. Can anyone suggest a good LED monitor in the 24" range? Budget would be around R3000 at most.

Dell Ultrasharp u2412m:

24"
e-IPS (better colour and viewing angles compared to your regular cheap samsungs and lg)
LED backlit
16:10 1920x1200 resolution (same as your T260)
Awesome stand that can tilt, pivot, rotate etc.
USB Hub
3 year on site warranty

Ditto that, you're going to miss the 1200 pixel height otherwise, most screens do 1080.

I'm still sporting my T260, no problems, except for bad viewing angles.

Yup the Dell looks like the best replacement.

My T260 still going strong, but when she goes, it will be one of these, unless something better comes around before then.

The Dell looks good but with shipping it's a bit above my price range. Any other monitors I need to look at. I'm not sure if the 1080 resolution would be a problem.

Same as U2412m but 1080p and an inch smaller.

Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" IPS LED Monitor

R2300.

1200p is generally better for work kind of tasks whilst 1080p is too wide with not enough vertical for work tasks. 1080P is better for movies though as you wont have black bars above and below a wide screen movie.

Anyone have experience of the Samsung S24B370HS? I can't seem to find any reviews of it.

I'm a bit concerned that the IPS might not do so well for gaming and the screen flickering of the Dell might also irritate my eyes.

IPS is perfect for gaming and flickering is for the most part overrated.

The Dell U2412M is at the top of my list, but the shipping costs are around R300-R370 for my location which makes it a tad expensive. Unless I find something else suitable I think I'll just have to bite the bullet, close my eyes and order it.

With shipping the price gets much closer to the R4358 of the Samsung S27B550V - 27 Inch LED Monitor which makes the decision tougher.

27" 16:9 LCDs aren't great in my opinion. Far too overpriced for entry TN panel. Sometimes better to just get a 32" Samsung/LG LCD TV for less, which is S-PVA/IPS panel respectively.

Bite that bullet...

Leading me into temptation. Just waiting to confirm whether the online store can get stock of the U2412M and then placing my order tomorrow.

RE gaming and flickering.

Games look amazing to me on mine and I (used to be) quite a big gamer and always liked things running at 100 FPS so I would notice any lag or ghosting.

After a week with my monitor I haven't had a problem with flicker.

That's good to know. The videos on Youtube make it out to be a huge issue.

Probably precisely because they're videos.

Yes, but those showing it side by side with other monitors indicate a considerable amount of flickering compared to the others
