I'm looking for a 27" monitor for gaming. Ive been waiting months for S27a950d but suppliers keep on giving me false ETA's so now I decided it might be best to go for any good 27" normal 2D screen. Preferably 2ms response time. I like the Samsung best but any decent make would be fine. Gonna save up and get the 3D screen next year or so when they are cheaper.

So..... any suggestions on make and store I can buy at(who has stock)?
2nd thing would 5ms be fine for gaming? Any noticeable difference?

New import tax is like 20 to 25% if im not mistaking?

I'd just get a Dell U2711, in fact, I almost ordered one last week.

Samsung 27" WIDE 3D LED, MEGA DCR (1000:1),1920*1080, 2ms, 300cd/㎡, Displayport, HDMI, DVI-D We are getting stock first week August ( that's why no-one has stock...we are all waiting for the same container to arrive). Let me know if I need to PM you pricing.

Pretty sure the dell will outperform any panel that isn't a 3D panel. Also, the Sammy's aren't 2ms panels, they all rely on overdrive to achieve that, and their overdrive algorithm sucks. The overdrive function on AMD GPU's is much better...

The Dell also has a proper resolution for a 27"

Please can you Pm me the price. Are you sure you will be getting stock then? I have really been waiting months and just getting false ETA's. The last ETA I received was a month back from pinnacle claiming stock arrives today the 18th. Phoned them to ask and NADA. Also can you maybe provide me with a price for the S27A550H its just the normal 27" 2D screen. Thanks alot

Ok quickly read reviews and specs does seem nice. quickly looking at price tag will make it quite expensive though!

Thnx for all the responses so far guys.

This screen is a good one.
The Samsung P2770H LCD.
Here is its strong points:
- high resolution 1920x1200 on linux using avi cable (1920x1080 on windows.)
- fast refresh rate (great for games)
- high quality design (no humming or no backlight issues)
- get both dvi and avi cables in box
- excellent colors for an LCD and very tweakable colors/brightness
- cheap

The prices on this bad boy fluctuated alot recently, but samsung sent in a big batch earlier this year, and when the prices fell i bought 3 for R2000 each!

Excellent monitor for movies/gaming/everything in between.
In my opinion LED panels are a bit too expensive currently, and there is no monitor that can beat this one based on the stuff mentioned above.

Rather buy a TV, its a lot cheaper...

there was an article here on myBB earlier this month i think...

reason why TVs are cheaper is because their parts are made locally, whereas pc monitors have to be imported. wont see much difference when buying a TV... bigger size and a better price.

Thats a very good monitor yes. Only problem is most suppliers are out of stock for those.

Im scared of going too big, the bigger the screen the more eyestrain you get. I tried once with a 46" 10mins and I got a headache and my eyes were sore the rest of the day. Sitting about 2 -3m from the screen. And I know 32" is so cheap. Also I did read the article "shouldnt your next monitor be a TV" plus you get speakers aswell...

well you could always move further back :D

dont go to big then... stick with something small like the 32". its a bit bigger than the 27" and it has speakers like you mentioned :P
