Monstrous 16TB solid state drive from Samsung

If Samsung would just introduce these drive now at affordable cost then they could kill their competitors

Wouldn’t need such a monster but I wouldn’t mind if 1TB drives could become commonplace and affordable. ;)

We should take guesses on the price and see who is the closest when pricing is released.

I'm going to go $13k at release date. Prices will drop quite rapidly after that.

This will probably be about R10K I guess? More? .............

The 2TB 850 Pro is $1000. 8 times that amount is the minimum this drive will likely cost, so $8k in the US and R120k locally (the 2TB is R15k here).

And the 850 Pro isn't even an enterprise-class drive... so expect it to be more expensive.

Yeah, just saying that this drive can't cost below $8k even if Samsung is cool about the price. Maybe they'll go with the nice round figure of $9999.

It's using the same type of NAND as the $1000 850 Pro so I wouldn't surprised if it was surprisingly affordable in the enterprise space. Current enterprise SSD's are more expensive because they use SLC versus the MLC consumer drives use.

So...lets have a whipround and get me one for Christmas please...
