Month-to-month LTE pricing

Webafrica recently became the first ISP in South Africa to launch Telkom fixed-LTE packages which do not require customers to take out a contract.

These fixed-LTE offerings are available on a month-to-month basis and can be cancelled with one month's notice being given.

How is fixed-LTE different to regular LTE?
 
Current mobile data plan with AH, think I need to move (assuming coverage) unless I'm missing something here.

Afrihost costing me R267 + R99 (for afrihost plus) = 10GB.
Fixed LTE 20GB = R249
 
I feel like a n00b.
Dafuq didn't even know afrihost had fixed LTE.
Dafuq have I been paying them for more expensive mobile data when this is for home use.
Eish.

I've asked this question many times without a proper answer, at first it looked like the only difference would be getting locked in to a tower hence "fixed". BUT: 1559847338193.png

Its the cellc offering. my last experience with it was it becomes unusable in peak hours. that was 6 months ago though.
 
All the other options are nice.

In my opinion though if the ISP is going to use a network that already exists, like Telkom in this case, then they better allow you to also buy bundles as you need them rather than charge OOB rates. R0.10 a MB works out to R100 a GB.

In the case of Telkom, when the data is finished you simply top up, 1st, 7th, 23rd of month, does not matter.

Is the difference not that you get a fixed wall or pole mounted antenna to boost signal a little? Wouldn't matter otherwise if you decided not to use the fixed antenna.

If they do not provide you with that then there is absolutely zero difference except that you fall in a "qualifying area" - which you may as well determine yourself on prepaid.

You could also always get yourself your own antenna.

Thanks for the info.
Might try the Telkom deal and see. Feel like I'm paying far too much for Afrihosts mobile data right now.
