More discounts with MTN Zone

hrm.. :P now to see what the responce from voda is :D

Vodacom has only up to 65%.. not 95% ( off network ).
and their version started like may this yr vs mtn's dec 2007

Yes, contract customers get nothing....

so is this their way/incentive to tell me to move to pay-as-you-go ..rather than take out a contract with them??

I'm on the same contract and use the same phone as you MrG

It seems as though they don't care bout the contract subscribers as they're already getting there monthly wad of dough from us... :/

wasn't MTN Zone released before Vodacom's similar product?

MTN is just fighting back with enhanced discounts.
My point is this "But they copied them" argument is retarded.

Yea utter bs... I would think that contract customers are more loyal yet they get jack...

Pay as u go people spend much more wads of cash on buying airtime than some contract people. Maybe that is why the contract people get nothing again...

They get a "free" phone with their contract

After more than 10 years with MTN.. I won't be reneweing my contract again. If their PayG customers are more important then I'd better find me a different network that values their contract subscribers.

MTN one upped Vodacom with this offer:). Good to see competitiveness between the networks:).

I think contract customers do get a better deal overall, because contract call rates are much cheaper than undiscounted prepaid call rates. On prepaid you are very unlikely to see heavy discounts during peak periods.

Point. Contract calls are way cheaper. Also that "free" phone is kinda free if you take it that the money you pay every month covers your "free" minutes.

Contract people get a great deal. It only seems worse when people don't have self control.

Something to note, you cannot port from an MTN contract to an MTN pay-as-you-go account.
According to MTN's responses to both my telephonic and HelloPeter enquiries, their systems would need modification but more importantly, their company policy doesn't allow for this and "while being in the process of being changed" isn't happening at a rate that suits the consumer (I've been waiting for 1.5 years for this.)

Impressive, I wonder how they can afford to give 95% discounts with the high interconnect rates?

I think you can get around that by porting to another network and then porting back which is admittedly a bit of a mission.
