More Pet Food Problems

That is what I suggested :p ... Fayth has got a bit left, as I said, and some old Vet's Choice which I bought dunno when, but neither dog have been affected by it, so it's safe.

Good 1 Aphrael... I know people who feed their allergic animals this diet and it's apparently really good for them.

P.s. please would you share what your Vet recommends? (It could save us all a few bob :D )!

I'll be going to the vet on Saturday morning. Depending on further info gleaned from news sites, I may phone around as well. Be sure that I will share any info I find :)
 
So my dog has just been rushed into the vet, blood tests came back from yesterday and looks like kidney failure. A beautiful healthy male 2 year old boxer :(

Family is devastated. Taken our other female boxer for blood tests and urine tests now as well.

Makes me sick, no amount of money or anything could ever replace our pets, they are family.
 
Ziglet that is awful and I really feel for you and your family. Our dogs become such an integral part of our lives and it hurts like hell when we lose them or when we see them suffering. Did your dog show any signs of illness or did you just take him for a checkup?

Well we bought the new dog food on saturday...
Tuesday night he wasnt eating, wednesday we read about the problems and the vet contacted us to say stop giving the dogs that specific dog food...

Took him in for blood tests and we managed to get urine from him this morning which we were going to take in, but the vet phoned before saying his bloodwork had come back and seemed to show signs of kidney failure :(

So unexpected.

Just praying it wasnt too far gone....
 
Ok, just got off the phone with Hills (phoned the number that love56k left in a previous message). I was told that only a specific brand of cat food was affected - the one for cats with obesity and diabetic-related obesity, or something like that. None of the dog foods are affected. The reason for it being that the food contains a contaminated wheat gluten, while all the other products have a maize gluten. Don't ask me what the difference is.

I'm still interested in what Vets Choice brands have been affected, and whether any other brands, that were affected (remember Eukanuba at one stage), are still being affected.
 
We were using Vets choice. They gave us Eukanuba as a replacement.

The vet has no clue what is wrong with Vets choice but all I can figure out is its some form of plastic powder...?

I called Purina to see if their products had any issues ( our cats eat Friskies, dogs Olympic ) and thankfully all Purina products are safe.

Good :)

My dog eats the same. The cats sometimes have Friskies but mainly Royal Canin. The current pack they're eating is a batch from 07/2006 and have been eating it for a week so it's fine.

In some of the other cases it was melamine, the same plastic they make plates etc. from, not sure about this one.
 
So just got a phone call from the vet, the females urine shows signs of kidney problems as well, so they have just sent off her blood work as urgent, so will know tonight *sighs*

Thing is, legal action can't make our dogs better... Don't care about the money, would spend anything for them

Hope they can sort everything out, this is all so horrible. :( :mad:
