Hi,after getting a new netgear router a week ago everything has been ok,now the crap is starting again,The internet LED on the router flashes all the time, pinging google gives timeouts every few secs and pages dont load properly. Is the internet light supposed to flash?

I have exactly the same problems since replacing my lightning struck Telkom router with a Belkin Wireless one. Pages sometimes do not want to load, cant ping google etc. On and off the entire time. Played around with MTU settings, etc. This only started happening after the lightning strike and installing the new Belkin router. Also when making changes to the router it does not want to reboot, so need to manually unplug the power to reboot it. Just bought a new D-Link router today and will test to see if it still happens.

On 4mb with Mweb uncapped.

Geez - ditto, also after lightning strike, what should be a simple 'router config and off you go' has turned out a pain in the .....

if your problems constantlt reappear after fixing them, maybe your troubles are not router related?

Well it started with the Mega 100Wr router, but apparently 1 of the capacitors in the power supply was blown, with that router everyday there was a new problem. All 4 ethernet lights flashing, power LED wud be red sumtimes, wireless would be on when it shouldn't be.Had to reset router every day to get it working for a while,so replaced with netgear and now the Internet just flashes. Can still login to router, which i couldn't do with the 100WR unless i reset it,and even then it didn't help most of the time. Also i cannot find the Attenuation and SNR stats in the router,i've gone through every tab.

Also this exactly - lightning took out the telkom billion router and got a new belkin wireless one and it sometimes just loses connection until I unplug it and restart. This seems to happen a lot less now though but still once or twice a week.

It also had a problem with not accepting any wireless connections that were already authenticated with it's wireless security thingy until reset as well, but this hasn't happened in a while.

I should add that the lightning strike happened in early january and also took out the wall socket and/or the wall cable the old modem was connected to - we're still waiting for telkom to come and repair it even after two escalation calls - luckily we have another socket and wireless connectivity
