More violent taxi demonstrations.

Hundreds of taxi owners, drivers, queue marshals and panel beaters said they hoped President Jacob Zuma would keep his word concerning the Bus Rapid Transit system.

If he did not they said they would embark on bigger and more violent demonstrations.

Will he allow these scumbags to hold the country to ransom or will he put his foot down once and for all.

He will keep his word and FIFA will accept taxis....mark my words... If he does put his foot down I'd take my hat off to him... I'm not holding my breath...
 
Gee, now we are stuck with dug up roads, cowboys for transport and a whole wodge of money swazzed against the wall because a bunch of thugs are worried about their own back pocket. Gee, what happened to the consumer in this whole thing? what happened to improving the transport in this country, in 20 years time will we still have these deathtraps and their kamikaze drivers on our roads in 40 year old rattletraps and thumping great holes dug up all over the roads for a bus system that died to placate a crowd of cowboys.

It would be naive to think that the scumbag ANC would even attempt to stop the taxi debacle - they have their fingers in the till on that one as well.

His attempts at getting the taxi drivers to vote for him looks like its coming back to masticate him in the glutious maximus :rolleyes:

I doubt FIFA will accept this, not at the way taxis rule the roads.

Then again, if he does put his foot down, hows he gonna control them?
 
As it stands currently he has given the Taxi unions the finger...

I doubt FIFA officials got anywhere near Taxi's when they visited SA. They wouldn't have a clue about what the fskres get up to on the roads

Easy, order a State emergency and let the Army sort these fk'rs out. Helen had it right. You can not let a big crowd of rowdy thugs lose to cause chaos on the street and putting the lifes of innocent citizens at harms way.

I think he will put his foot down and once the Taxi industry get violent he'll deploy the Army. I for one will be scared of the army as they do not abide by normal law like the police or use civilians. They will use force and not be held accountable for it.

oh man i'm with you on this one !

i really hope zuma will sort them out once and for all !

i'm sooo tired of the taxi chaos on my way to work every morning and afternoon, i work in the cbd which is ruled by taxis ! metro are useless and the taxi drivers now learnt a new trick in the last week...they don't stop for red robots anymore they just go and hoot if you in the way !

the rule of law doesn't apply to them and metro are happy to ignore them !

Whats to stop FIFA from declaring SA unsafe to host 2010 if the army is called out?

I'm all for using martial law to deal with civil unrest, but is it in the best interests of the country aiming at hosting the WC. Is there anyway Zuma could control them (the taxis), without calling in the army, whilst still continuing the BRT system development.

Sure it's in a mess and not like it was 30 years ago. But they are still a desent force and will rip the Taxi drivers a new one. Once they where deployed the Xenophobia stopped in it's tracks ;) They don't ask questions they act on commands. Army > Taxi industry hands down ;)
 
Taxis

Why is everybody discussing TAXIS all OS Visitors will know what is a Taxi.
Because they use them every day standing on the streets calling them
and will driven to the destination the client is asking. You also can use the
phone . So here it is a minibus transport system but not Taxis? Doesn't
make Sense to me. TAXI???

Then Fifa would have pulled out when the Xenophobia happened. They actually complimented SA for how it dealt with the Xenophobia outbreak. They will do the same if the Army is called for the Taxi Violence. Fifa only worries about the safety of the spectators. And making a stand showing that group violence will not be tolerated = BIG SMILES on the Fifa board :)
