my sister bought a few at dischem for R149 and every morning she removes 5 to 10 dead one's.
I saw one on takeless and got it. My mosguitos are blind, and avoid that device. I was wondering if getting a special blue led will work.
I must say , after a week there was 2 dead one's inside. I know some will say it was a bad buy.
 
I have a couple with day/night sensors but still use the Raid/Peaceful Sleep liquid machines as well on some smart plugs so they turn on when the sun goes down and then off when the sun comes back up.

In combination they work very well, neither works that well on their own.

It’s a cumulative result.

To do what..? Mosquito disco..??

If there is a human in the room, they would be much more attracted to the human than a light, much less a blue light.. any mosquito going to a blue light is more coincidence than attraction.. blue light wave length is right next to UV wave length and considering mosquitoes are active at night, blue light is likely to push them away rather than attract them.. hence why I say, more coincidence than attraction..
 
You do need that blue/purple light. It's the UV that attracts the mosquito's.

Reference please? As far as I know they aren't attracted to light at all. I have been very skeptical about these devices.

I did find a study in Brazil, where they setup red, green and blue led light traps.. they found mosquitoes in the traps, with the green trap having significantly more mosquitoes than blue or red..

However, they did the study on a farm and placed the light traps in animal enclosures.. to me, that invalidates the results, since there is no way to know whether the mosquitoes were just unlucky and flew into the trap on their way to get to the animals or if they saw their mosquito friends in the trap and thought there must be food and followed them in there..

So, if anything they *might* be attracted to green light..? But, I would want to see a study like this, where there are no other sources of attraction, just the lights and see what happens then..
 
I run two Yage UV lamps. One in the bedroom, runs from sunset while the bedroom door is closed. The other runs in the lounge from bedtime until morning. They are great at keeping mosquito numbers down.

Below a rather gross photo of two days worth of kills from the lounge lamp.

I got 2 of those blue right mosquito traps for when the GF stays over (they never bite me but she gets bitten to pieces)

They were completely useless - returned them for refund and now employ the electrical zapper tennis racket instead (much more rewarding)
 
I find spraying your legs, arms and the top of your head lightly with Peaceful Sleep or Tabard works well, you just have to remember to do it

Really want to get one of those UV light (like this https://www.dischem.co.za/homemax-e...MIuc6CoL3M9QIVCJftCh1NoAsZEAQYAiABEgLdWfD_BwE) but it seems to hit and miss whether they work or not...

All I do is run a fan at the foot of the bed onto me every single night
Mozzies have tiny wings and cannot fly in the wind
That is why when the south easter is pumping here in the Western Cape there are zero mozzies to bite you
It's only on windless nights the litte naais come out to hunt you down

That was the worst part during loadshedding when my slot started at midnight or 2am, those buggars always got me then
