Mosque for [NY WTC] Ground Zero?

So, in whose name did the Soldiers from USA kill when they invaded Iraq TWICE in the last 20 years?

Why are you talking about goats when everyone else is talking about turnips.

That has nothing to do with building a mosque at ground zero.

But to answer your question, the US has only invaded Iraq once. The first time Iraq invaded another Islamic nation called Kuwait and the government of Kuwait requested American aid. The Americans didn't actually invade Iraq.

You brought in the fact that they did the deed in the name of Allah apparently...

I'm just pointing out the fact that that does not tar the WHOLE of Islam with that brush, it tars that extremist group...

Unfortunately for you, there is no sugar coating needed..

Islam is NOT the reason thousands of people were murdered, extremists were the reason...

Wrong, it is muslim extremists that are guilty of most terrorist activities these days, that's right, muslims taking their religion to the extreme.

Damn sure you know very well that muslim countries forbid the building of a churches, so the answer is NO, but the muslims will push the envelope in western countries.

Well then Western Countries need to step up to the plate and ban Mosques.... its simple isn't it?

Agreed, they should drop the PC BS, and ban them.

I disagree with this. If civilized tolerant people ban mosques then we are no better than they are.

And Toxic Bunny, there would be no Islamic Extremists if there was no Islam.

The problem with Islam besides the fact that it is a religion is that it has not evolved since the middle ages. It still preaches the same lessons as it did back then which are completely inappropriate for the modern age. We all need to co-exist and that doesn't just mean we have to allow your customs, you also need to tolerate criticism of your religion and not threaten to murder people over satirical cartoons.

And toxicbunny, Islam is a very rigid black and white intolerant religion you should not be surprised if the responses it garners are the same.

If there was no Christianity, there would have been no Crusades, If there was no Judaism there would have been no wars in that area, etc etc....

As for Islam being a black and white intolerant religion, I see you've been brainwashed...

Just like Christianity, there are groups of people who are very rigid in their beliefs and also groups of people who take a more learned and inclusive approach to the teachings in their religious text. Jewish people, Christians and such are all regarded as "people of the book" in Islam by alot of people due to Islam considering itself to be the culmination of Judeo-Christian monotheistic traditions.

I'm not saying Christianity is as bad as Islam currently.....

But I'm just pointing out the fact that ALL religions have their extremists...

So, we should just ignore the Christian Extremists who vow to do evil things as well?

Or the Jewish Extremists?

As a world we are all to focused on Islamic extremism rather than religious extremism in general.

Although the Saudi involvement in mosques around the world can be traced back to the 1960s, it was not until later in the twentieth century that the government of Saudi Arabia became a large influence in foreign mosques.[23] Beginning in the 1980s, the Saudi Arabian government began to finance the construction of mosques in countries around the world. An estimated US$45 billion has been spent by the Saudi Arabian government financing mosques and Islamic schools in foreign countries. Ain al-Yaqeen, a Saudi newspaper, reported in 2002 that Saudi funds may have contributed to building as many as 1,500 mosques and 2,000 other Islamic centers[24]
Don't try the same in Saudi Barbaria.

O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Sacred Mosque. And if ye fear poverty, soon will Allah enrich you, if He wills, out of His bounty, for Allah is All-knowing,

Shame. We must play nicely with this one. :)

And in whose name did those extremists kill? You can't get around it.

Did they really kill for their God that's it?... what I find is that 9/11 did not happen out the blue, Osama was pretty vocal during the 90's about the reasons, Ramzi Yusuf was the 1st guy to attempt WTC demolition and failed, his reason at trial was avenging crimes committed by the US and Israel and he was hardly religious at the time.

We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the difference between us two. -Osama bin Laden

Attacks or not, Islam is basically about the exact antithesis of what America stands for. IMO this is like a cancer to the heart

After the break: lets veil the Statue of Liberty

Yep, f**k the flag thrust into the moon...

America has just witnessed up front, what the Swedes have been witnessing, in that they are now aware that Muslims are targeting political and strategic positions. The "democratic" takeover plan by muslims, of the countries of the world. It's known to every Muslim. Like communism, it's very insidious.

The only "good" I can see from this is that there might be less terror attacks or none at all?

Other than that, it really spits in people's faces of those who died

It's a spit in the face and expecting Americans to be as stupid, as the Muslims say Americans are, by allowing it.

No. You've been George W. Bushed, I'm afraid.

9/11 was caused by extremists who happened to be Muslim. Georgie, being the religious dork that he was, instantly focused on the 'Muslim' bit and suddenly all anyone could ever talk about was the "threat of Islam". They called it 'military Islam' of course, just to avoid looking like complete arses, but that's what it was at the end of the day. The War on Terror could just as well be called the War on Muslims.

Building a mosque on the site of 9/11 would be spitting in the faces of the terrorists. It would send a message that the West, or Christians, or civilised folk or whatever you want to call yourselves, is actually that magnanimous, that forgiving and that eager to build bonds rather than break them, that they would erect a monument to the religion that the terrorists (with the help of George W) desecrated.

I think it's a really awesome idea. I'm sure the religious right will object (probably while yelling something along the lines of 'but islam is a violent religion!') which is just another reason to do it :D. But what drawbacks would there be?

American are you?

If there was no Christianity, there would have been no Crusades, If there was no Judaism there would have been no wars in that area, etc etc....

Riggghy, a poor Christian nation, or an Oil rich Muslim nation, choose one

What islam demands, is not simply a religious system, it is also a GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM! Just like NAZISM was

Well said.

They would laugh at how gullible the west is and how weak we are and take more than we give.
