Mosque for [NY WTC] Ground Zero?

Same in Malaysia, until they wanted to use the same name for their gods.

I really don't understand those who attack christians who use the word Allah for god esp cos they have been using it for centuries now since "God" I am lead to believe (I could be wrong) is "Allah" in Aramaic the original language of Jesus (peace be upon him)

if I am wrong pls tell me
/looking for an Aramaic to English translator on the web Google translator is blocked at my work:wtf:

You are not wrong. The God of Christianity, Islam & Judaism is the same God and recognised as such (officially) by the three religions.

Really have no idea what the idiots are on about.

Really people are so gullible to all this Islamic hysteria in the media, this building proposal is just one of many from different developers and this one happens to be a Muslim so is picked on, does not mean it's going to happen at all.

They(Christians/Muslims/Jews) would argue that their specific God is the only one and that the others are wrong and are scum and need to be annhilated. Whether this makes sense or not is irrelavant.

What is very relevant is that there anough nut-jobs in all 3 religious with access to lots of guns and high explosive.

Like I said don't think it would really be an inspiration of peace between Muslims and Non-Muslims esp because of the location of the proposed centre
I agree that talks need to be opened "a common word" springs to mind but that so difficult with the extremist blowing things up and cartoonist that think
making fun of iconic people is their right.

I know people are gonna say there is huge difference between cartoons and killing people but there are a large number of Muslims that believe the plight is being
ignored on the international front like a Palestinian's right to live , the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction conundrum, the Afghanistan issue and many more

and making fun of GOD is the last smack in the face that they could accept

This is equivalent to the US building a church on the site where Saddam's statue used to stand in Baghdad or how about a nice US consulate next to where the mosque used to stand in Kabul? If the Iraqis and Afghans will accept that, then the US should have no problem accepting this.

Why the fsck mustn't this happen?

And no emotional BS... this is a good idea, its a damn community centre that just HAPPENS to have a mosque in it and is run by Muslims....

For one practical reason I'm against it, the noisy minaret. You'd have a huge loud speaker booming out every day in the heart of a bunch of office blocks and businesses. You can hear these things from over 20 kilometres away. Not sure I'd want that while I'm trying to work!

Sorry you wrong simply put

Now there is a valid reason to be against it.... and one that I fully agree with since I lived near a Mosque in Durban for 10 years........ drove me mental.

I live in Cape Town, something that I'm used to since I grew up with it, it's only an issue if you choose it to be. Church and mosque are close to each other and church bell rings when there is a service, both I'm used to.

Church Bells don't ring during business hours.

Yes tell me about it. Many years ago I used to work in Linbro Park next to Modderfontein, long before the Frankenwald complex was built. Across the N3 on the other side of the valley there is a huge mosque, I presume its in Marlboro Gardens. Its maybe a good 5 kilometres away. Every single day that speaker would go throughout the entire hour of my lunch break. Drove me completely nuts. Was actually happy when I was re-posted to peacefull Kempton Park. :D
