Mosque for [NY WTC] Ground Zero?

They would laugh at how gullible the west is and how weak we are and take more than we give.

Shame, is the big bad capitalist worried about what towelheads living in caves think of him?

A lot of other people got alienated by the War on Muslims ... sorry, "Terror", and this would be a nice gesture of (dare I say it??) Reconciliation. :)

churches in muslim countries

as in saudi there non yet but

according to wiki they are considering it

also the times.com website
and here

As for the mosque in New York right next to the 9/11 attack site, I think its in bad taste maybe further away could work, I honestly think it would cause more damage than fix relationships

Yes there are a few out there BUT are they allowed to ring the church bells? Are they allowed to invite the rest of the population to church? Does Sharia law still apply to them? It's a bit of a farce really if you ask me.

This should help

Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed, in his covenant with the People of `Anat, wrote: “They are allowed to ring the bells at any time of the day or night, except in the time of the Islamic prayer times. They are allowed to bear their crosses in their festivals.” (Abu Yusuf, Al-Kharaj, p. 146)

Rather go try it ;)

You seem to be the expert on the issue, why not see for yourself, get on a plane and report back ;)

...Pay a visit to the Christian Palestinians first who had a difficult Easter thanks to Israel.

And in whose name did those extremists kill? You can't get around it. Their religion was the reason those people killed. Oh, and I'm not targeting Islam here. This is how I feel about all religion.

You seem to have a lot of undefined animosity pent up there. That type of animosity is the driving force behind ethnic cleansing, genocide, war, xenophobia etc. I'd be weary of views such as yours.

If there was no Christianity, there would have been no Crusades, If there was no Judaism there would have been no wars in that area, etc etc....

Hate to break it to you but you don't know your history. You see there was this Ottoman Empire which eyed EUROPE and the EUROPEANS which eyed not only its territories but also saw it as a threat.
This was a war for resources often with mercenaries of either religion, fighting on both sides. Without Islam and Christianity those wars would have also happened.

Also it should be pointed out that the Crusades were seen as a unifying action to get rid of the excess soldiers who would otherwise be used by European warlords to pillage each other's territories or even without warlords these 'ronin' were dangerous. The unifying nature of a common enemy was also important in the development of Europe. Other common enemies - Tartars and Mongols. The Mongols BTW let you keep your religion but would exterminate entire cities (everyone, no-one spared) as a lesson for future cities which resisted their arrival.

Peter : I am aware that they would have happened anyway.....

My point is that they were fought under the auspices of "God"...

Just like 9/11 would probably have happened eventually ANYWAY.. but it wouldn't have been by a religious extremist group.
