MWEB at home, WA at work.

MWEB -> only current uncapped package that is tolerable.

WA -> redundancy for Seacom outages.

wtf

How the hell can MWeb win that. Either my understanding of "trust" differs from the rest of the forumites' or the entire Seacom debacle only happened in my little world (Same for the vague AUP). The question is not "Best value for money ISP".

Wondering how Telkom made it so far up the list?

RPM did clarify that.

This is one of the reasons why we defined trust so widely. This is really close to a ‘brand’ survey, and I think gives a fair overview of what consumers currently feel towards the various ISPs.

It could also be that, contrary to the comments in other threads, some people are actually happy with MWEB.

Why's mine showing axxess? Could of sworn I clicked Web Africa also - maybe I'm getting old.

RPM did clarify that..
This part?
‘Trust’ was defined in terms of service quality, support levels and general confidence in the company.

Support has indeed been good from the forum rep, but aside from that my point stands.

Look at the threads containing "mweb" currently in the ISP forum (1st page only):
MWEB Uncapped ADSL - Unofficial Q
FAO Mweb
Mweb BAN at what point?
Mweb so slow
MWEB Outage: Degraded International Link
Mweb international browsing issues?
Megaupload for MWEB
MWEB 384 Abominable for anybody else?

Look at those thread titles and tell me MWeb deserves to win as the survey currently stands.

Don't get me wrong - if the survey mentions cost or value for money too then Mweb would & should win easily. But on "trust"...no way....it hasn't even got redundancy. (Or do they now?)

I dont understand the hate towards mweb, I had to do a complete format of my pc . Thank goodness for mweb , my steam account with all my games would have killed me had i not been uncapped. I dont mind the fact that on a 512k line i am doing on average 195 meg an hour, i dont know and dont care if that is slower or faster than IS, or WA. What really makes the difference is that mweb brought uncapped adsl to the masses, NOT to the super rich only! We have all been bored to death by hearing they are not the first , maybe but they are the cheapest and if you dont download 50 gig a day i am sure they will leave you .

If they dont then fine complain to them. This is more than a question of trust to me. Do i trust mweb? Until they give me a reason NOT to trust them i have no reason not to. Even if there are products out there that are R20.00 cheaper i doubt i will move over. This has more to do with consumer confidence in your product. Some might see that as the same thing but to me confidence and trust are seperate things . Honestly! Who the fu.. voted for telkom???

Maybe the lack of trust issue has something to do with the random bannings with no set of defined rules.

I don't care about who brought what first to us at a 'lower' cost...

I don't abuse the network - but I also don't like being told, "We won't tell you exactly what not to do, but know this, if you do do what we're not telling you not to do, we will ban you".

DISCLAIMER: The above sentance is deliberatly confusing.

For me... it will always be Afrihost that "Freed the Web" in South Africa... and they did it about six months before Mweb.

For me the three points are all met. My personal opinion - you may of course differ. As for the downtime due to SEACOM - it was already expected and I had planned for it ahead of of time. And it was of a short enough duration that it didn't impact me greatly. I have had more downtime this year due to Telkom ADSL issues (cable faults) than I did due to MWEB's redundancy issues.

As for the forum threads - there are a few vocal users on the forum. And there are people with issues. But a few threads here still doesn't indicate a majority problem.

Other ISPs had zero downtime.;)

But yeah, I guess its a matter of perspective & to each his own.

I would argue that the Complaints MWEB are getting on the forum is normal business practice. You have T&Cs so some people will inevitably be unhappy, the amount of people complaining is surprisingly low considering the have signed up over 70000 new clients. MWEB deserves my vote, prior to them I have had to budget my bandwidth so strictly that I almost never used bandwidth intensive applications like Steam and I whole heartedly agree with their T&C's.

Abuse the service by bypassing their shaping and you should be "fired".

Hmmm, I wonder what ISP's all these people complaining about MWEB are with?

Even this poll on the forum puts them right at the top and yet, somehow... it just can't be true. Maybe somebody is fixing the poll here.

Me for one have been doing between 700 and 800 gigabytes per month since i went uncapped with mweb except for last month. I have had no problems with them whatsoever

Afrihost getting slated on the Ps3za forums too...
eg. :
1: Afrihost must be the worst isp ever. When google is struggling to open, you know its time to move. I am on a 4mb line but the speed i get >> going to rather plug in my old 56k modem

2: IS are having major problems again, it's not just Afrihost. Though they are pretty bad.

Im gona stick with Webafrica's network thanx...

And it looks like Web Africa has overtaken MWEB - no real surprise.
