Core 2 Extreme x6800 - CPU
4 x 512 Corsair XMS2 DDR2-667 low lat - RAM
1 x Nvidia XFX 7900 GTX extreme - GPU

These are the main components that I have; I plan on upgrading my motherboard, due to technical difficulties... The problem is that my ASUS P5N32-SLI se Deluxe doesn’t want to run my entire ram (the RAM is fine, tested already) I wanted to with Gigabyte, but there aren’t really any motherboards that seem to catch my eye. But I have seen the ASUS Striker and Intel Bad Axe 2. But it seems the ASUS striker leaves the Bad Axe in its dust. But is the Striker overkill?? I don’t know what to do. If anybody can recommend a motherboard, please do, but I want nForce, probably the latest...

Thanx all

Have you done a bios update on the ASUS motherboard that normally sorts out those kind of problems. What is the ram size spec of the board?
How much ram do you want to put on the m/board?

Csnoopy, i have tried everything, and posted the problem already, its incurable... soz

I have the same problem, Had to underclock my DDR800 ram to DDR667

The problem is on the Nvidia 680i chipset as a XFX 680i board has the same problem.

The current best board for intel is the ASUS P5K Deluxe Wifi.

The P35 chipset is excellent. You still have 6 sata internally, but you also get 2 esata ports.

The memory controller on the P35 is excellent. It had taken any memory combination I could think of. Even 4x 2GB chips for 8GB total!!! and a combination of 256mb, 512mb 1GB and 2GB chips in conjuction.

It also runs much cooler than the Nvidia chip.

Best of all, the board is not more expensive than you current one.

Asus support is normally very good by fxing problems with there vis bios updates. Call ASUS South Africa office or go to there website, if you have not already done so.

How much ram is the board spec.ed for?
How old is the board?

So you actually realy want another Board.

4Dimms 8Gigs
i have 4 x 512mb 667 corsair XMS2's

And i want a mobo which is nForce "enabled" not crossfire

i hope your getting the board swopped out or your money back

those boards should come with a sticker:

WE HAVE INCLUDED 4 RAM SLOTS BUT ONLY 3 WORK

I have heard of this before... YES! I think it has to do with the fact that you are using 512 Sticks of RAM Have a freind that had 1GB | 1GB | 512 | 512 and PC would not boot :( as soon as he took 512's out would start again! not sure how He fixed it must have just got a whole new 1GB stick! perhaps that would help!

Gigabyte P35-DS3G/P or DS4 are all good boards there is Also a Asus P5B, and If you can wait abit for DDR3 & PCI-e 2.0 Support Intewl should have thos out by Q1 08' too bad the prices are going to be a bit high! :(

the pc boots... it goes into windows... then after like 10 or 20 seconds, i get a bluescreen IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_QUAL (i have gone and downloaded a patch from windows, which supposedly fixes the problem, but it didnt help.) dammit

Go with the Gigabyte GA-P35T-DQ6. The reliability is tops, and with the 3 year warranty you cannot go wrong. Whatever board you decide to go with, stick to the new p35 chipsets (maby even with those that can handle DDR3 1066 memory).

Did it just happen or did you do some changes and then you got this error?

You can also restore a previous working configuration.

it happened, both windows xp and vista. ive never tweaked my pc, i dont ever tweak it

oh my word... doode, havnt i said ive tried everything... !!! YES it is fine according to the manual... I HAVE CHECKED ON VARIOUS SITE AND FORUMS, AND ALL THE PEOPLE WITH THIS MOTHERBOARD THAT ATTACH A 4TH DIMM, GET THE BLUESCREEN

I don't trust Gigabyte, too much deviation from reference designes and "quirks"

ASUS has a new P5KC motherboard that has 4 DDR2 slots and 2 DDR3 slots.

But I still think the P5K delux is the way to go. Forget about SLI, no way are you gonna buy another 7900GTX. Considering the PSU requirements and the pace of graphics development, it is far cheaper to just buy 1 gaphics card more regularly. No game currently requires more than a 8800GTS 320mb to run smoothly, unless you have a 24" LCD with 1900x1200 resolution. For that you need dual link that is disabled with SLI anyway.

SLI= marketing gimmick only useful for about 0.005% of us
Crossfire= failed marketing gimmick

Clock your memory down by 100MHz. You should be able to tighten the timings on the ram to make up for the 1% performance difference.

That's what I did, My 4x 800Mhz ram is running a 710Mhz, but at CL4 tather than CL5.
