This time around he said he won't adjust his riding style and it is in Aprilia's best interests to stop building the bike around Aleix. I mean, after all Aleix and Aprilia have been through, how are you going to walk in and tell them to stop listening to Aleix?

Its quite fascinating that some bikes are built for one of the 2 (or more) riders - Honda - MM, Yamaha FQ, Aprillia - AE. Everyone else who rides those bikes seems to suffer / unable to extract the potential. Although with Honda Alex and Taka HAVE had one or two races where they shine

Suzuki, Ducati and KTM seem to be more multi-rider friendly

If Aprilia had a choice between him or one of Alex or Joan, it should be a no brainer. Not sure what his current contract with Aprilia is like but if it is multi-year, they should just buy him out and give him his marching orders.

I think it hast do with the fact that the riders you mentioned are either technically very sound (some riders are just good at developing a bike) or just so damn good at that specific moment that the team deems it best to tailor make the bike for them. Aleix is a great example of both. Even when Aprilia were struggling, Aleix was wiping the floor with his teammates, so they likely realised he was their best ticket to escape the basement and got behind him. He has also earned a reputation for being very good technically.

Yamaha is interesting as it was once considered the best overall bike on the grid and easiest to ride, but now appears to be something only Fabio can ride. Pretty much what the Suzuki is now.

Ducati went the other way as at one point Casey Stoner was the only person that could unlock its potential until Desmo Dovi figured it out and they have since further improved the bike to be where it is at now, and just about anybody can ride it.

Agreed. He was very fortunate to get a second chance after the stunt he pulled with Yamaha. He is extremely unprofessional and is starting to make Lorenzo look reasonable.

It looks like a one-year deal with an option for renewal, so it should be easy for Aprilia to walk away.

The Spaniard has signed 'an annual contract with an option for renewal'.

I was also going to add that this could potentially hinder the progress of several Moto2 riders but when looking through the list of possible riders primed to make the step up, none really stand out. Much was spoken about Pedro Acosta but it's safe to say given his current form, he needs at least another year in Moto2.

I've been watching Amazon's documentary and Keith Heuwen's podcast and wow, it is very illuminating what a pampered child Maverick is. On the flipside, Aleix whom I've admired since the Forward Racing days, is someone I can get behind even more despite his own histrionics.

Yeah agreed. As @thestaggy alluded to, Aleix has been part of the Aprilia program for years so he's almost justified in throwing his weight around within the team. Vinales has just come in and tried to get them to reinvent the wheel around him. Given the fact that Aprilia threw him a lifeline, you'd think he would realise it is in his best interests to stfu and do what he had to to adapt.

Yeah Pedro hasn't lit up Moto2 so a move to GP would be setting him up for failure

Following recent rumours of Suzuki departing MotoGP™ at the end of 2022, Dorna Sports has officially contacted the factory in order to remind them that the conditions of their contract to race in MotoGP™ do not allow for them to take this decision unilaterally.

However, should Suzuki depart following an agreement between both parties, Dorna will decide on the ideal number of riders and teams racing in the MotoGP™ class from 2023.

Well, last year Pit Beirer revealed that KTM had been considering a third team.

They run the KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas brands in Moto3 using the same chassis and engine, so they could do the same thing in MotoGP. Let Tech3 run either as Husqvarna or GasGas and then court a third independent team to take the third brand?

With the amount of quality young riders they have (including the 4 already in MotoGP), they could justify 6 bikes.

MotoGP bombshell: ‘Some teams are cheating the tyre rules’​

MotoGP’s minimum limit is 1.9 bar (27.6psi) for front slicks and 1.7 bar (24.6psi) for rears. Any lower and you are breaking the rules, just the same as if you’re running an oversized fuel tank or bypassing software locks in MotoGP’s spec electronics system.

Which begs the question: why weren’t Ducati and Pecco Bagnaia sanctioned for running an illegally low front-slick pressure during their ride to Spanish Grand Prix victory on May 1?

Because there is a so-called gentlemen’s agreement between the MSMA (the manufacturers association) and Michelin to not disclose any breach of this regulation or sanction any breaches.

This agreement has been in effect pretty much since Michelin became MotoGP’s spec tyre supplier in 2016, but at least two manufacturers have now had enough, claiming that they keep their tyres within the rules, while some rivals regularly send their riders out with illegally low tyre pressures, to gain better race-long performance, and suffer no punishment.

If you are going to leave something up to a ''gentleman's agreement'', someone is going to take advantage of it, so yeah, set the ruling in stone and close the loophole.
