Motorist kills attacker

Who knows for sure what happenend? The cops say the suspect dropped the phone...how do they know that? Did they see it? Do they have the phone? If yes then they can trace the guy who shoot him. What a load of crap, since when do the cops actually have any idea what the hell is going on?

Irate public beat copper wire thief to death

Justin McCabe HERALD REPORTER

A KWAZAKHELE copper wire thief met a brutal end when he was set upon by fed-up community members.

The incident took place at the corner of Nbelini and Qeqe streets at about 4.15am yesterday.

Police spokesman Andre Beegte said: “The thief was stealing copper wire from the top of a pole. He was spotted by community members. He was found to have a broken leg, which could mean that they shook the pole and he fell.”

The man was then beaten to death with pangas and metal poles.

“Community members are starting to get fed-up with copper piping and wire theft. It leaves them without water or electricity for days and days. We are stepping up our investigation of who is profiting from these thefts. We just ask that the residents stops killing these suspects, as they have vital information that could aid in our investigations,” said Beetge.

In a similar incident at the weekend, a Soweto-on-Sea man was attacked by community members after he was found stealing copper piping. Beetge said the man had been beaten badly, but had escaped with his life. His name and age are unknown.

The police have asked that anyone with information about the murder and theft of copper items should contact the Motherwell and Kwazakhele detective branches.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Thats one of the funniest things I have read in some time.

Good one community members. Beat the hell out of the guys with the squizza bottle at the top of Grayston!!

"surprisingly" no mention of whether the surviving thief was charged or not

I say well-done to the fed-up community members
+1 As brutal and savage an end as it must have been for the thief if the police aren't going to do their jobs effectively then someone else has to.

Yes they under staffed/under equipped/under paid/over worked/under qualified but must the public be held to ransom by thieving bartards? I say no...

As illegal as vigilantism is in most normal societies, ours is far from it and it simply cannot continue... I do pity the innocent one though that one day might be found guilty and convicted by such a kangaroo court and perhaps this is the most significant flaw in the blatantly flawed concept...

“.... We are stepping up our investigation of who is profiting from these thefts. ....

And therein lies the heart of the problem. How long has copper theft been going on? Which begs the next question, how on earth can the police still not know who is profiting from these thefts?

Because as soon as you close down down one another opens up

Not definitely. Probably, but none of us can see into the future and you can't say definitely.

And being killed after you dropped the stolen goods and are running away is not a preventative measure - it's murder.
Well I disagree, I am sick and tired of people having any kind of sympathy for these animals. Well done to the guy who shot him. These animals need to learn the hard way that we are not soft targets anymore.

Indeed. Let us all remember what get the kid shot in the 1st place. It's not like the guys just decided to randomly shoot him.

badly expressed but my point merely that pretty effective policing in the US has not gone hand in hand with a decrease in citizens bearing and using arms to protect themselves and their property

Second Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. God Bless America.
