The Grand Budapest Hotel

9/10

What an amazingly conceptualised and executed film.
Even without a charming story, the cinematography would have made up for it.

The symmetry in every shot is extremely beautiful and relaxing.

The acting is very humorous. Ralph Fiennes is brilliant.

Wes Anderson is brilliant. Virtually everything he's done has found its way onto my favorite movies list. Loved the Grand Budapest Hotel, thought The Darjeeling Limited was sublime, ditto for The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums is top five of all time for me.

I must watch these immediately!

EDIT: Upon searching it appears I have viewed The Life Aquatic. From my memory I felt that the film was very strange and rather boring.

I will still look at the others.

To be fair, it was his oddest but Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston and Owen Wilson were fantastic and I loved it... Willem Dafoe and Jeff Goldblum were also in it.

Attached video gives you some idea of how Anderson plans specific shots...

Watching that made me realise I have seen Moonrise Kingdom. I enjoyed it.

There's something about the symmetry that is incredibly reassuring.

Yep... He also does unbelievable tracking shots. I look forward to them with every new release.

Watched that the other and really enjoyed it.

@Pooky,

Also try Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen (can't stand him) as it had a similar feel to a Anderson movie to me.

Thanks. I think I saw it quite a while ago and found the romance cheesy... But all the Woody Allen films I have seen I recalled being cheesy.

However, I must try it again.

I thought The Lego Movie was excellent. I hardly ever genuinely laugh and that did it for me a few times.

Question.

I'm no Spiderman expert, but since when does he have superhuman strength?
Since he got bitten?

While attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials, sponsored by the General Techtronics Corporation, then-15-year-old Peter Parker was bitten on the hand by a spider that had been irradiated by a particle accelerator used in the demonstration. Unbeknownest to him, after the spider fell from his hand, it bit a girl,*Cindy Moon*on the ankle before it died from the radiation.[4]*Making his way home afterwards, Peter discovered he had somehow gained incredible strength, agility, and the ability to cling to walls; spider-like traits that he immediately associated with the spider bite.[5]
