Movie Mini-Review Thread

[Maverick Jester]

Began Boyhood last night. It's like 2h45 so we will finish tonight. So far it's ... kind of a masterpiece. There's something powerful about just the act of watching people ageing and changing on screen.

Will give this a watch...

[satanboy]

... Charlize makes a stunning cowgirl.

Ok, you've sold it to me.

[faniebraai]

Ok, you've sold it to me.

She's freaking stunning... and even hotter when she says "fsck"

Schaweet like a lemon's juices boet!

It actually disappointed me towards the end. It lost its dramatic purpose and became less interesting to watch. But anyway it's worth seeing.

Draft Day - 4/10

A boring movie about boring American Football.

[Rickster]

X-Men: Days of Future Past - 8/10. Best X-Men in quite a while.

Shuurup, they are all good, infact I was watching X2 lastnight.

They haven't really been good since X2 IMO. The Wolverines were rubbish, X3 was confusing and First Class was a mess.

Yes they were, but does that count as a X-men movie?

First class was ok.

[cerebus]

First class was ok.

It was ok. Hence why I said DoFP is the best in a while. They definitely took a downwards dip in quality.

[WaxLyrical]

Lucy 8/10. Luc Bessons best movie since Leon. The first 30 min are what makes this movie worthwhile. Gets a bit formulaic but the philosophical questions it raises are quite intriguing.

Sca Jo does a great job as well.

I see a sequel happening.

Chef - 5/10

A light hearted comedy about a chef who gets fired and makes his dreams come true.

[Creag]

Elysium - 5/10

And that's generous. I honestly expected more and was a little disappointed. Good for a once off watch of mindless entertainment, I guess.

[Creag]

Event Horizon - 6/10

A lot more entertaining. As Sci - Fi goes, it lived up to expectation. Interesting plot, enough action and special effects were good too.
