Watched the Martian over the weekend.
7/10 for me.
Its was a good movie. Not great like many of the critics reviews.
For me it felt like the movie was missing something. More emotional connection to the lead was needed.

However Ridley Scot is the man when it comes to movies like this.

You won't find director who made his first movie in the 60's and is making hits.
Even Spielberg is slowing down.

Clint Eastwood will probably die in the directors chair - of old age.

Inspiring stuff.

The Martian is a bit of a comeback for Ridley Scott. His quality has been seriously lacking over the last decade or so. Prometheus, Exodus, Robin Hood, Kingdom of Heaven, A Good Year - forgettable dross for the most part.

The Martian was quite okay. A solid 5/10. I am looking forward to the book though.

^^, probably serious. It's reviewing really well...if it wasn't a musical, I would have watched it in the cinema.

Didn't mean it in a bad way...like Walk the Line, Straight Outta Compton is a musical biopic.

...are you gonna say rap isn't music? Get off my lawn!

Musical biopic isn't the same as a musical. A musical is where people spontaneously burst out in song. 8-Mile is the closest thing I can think to a musical rap film.
