Hitman: Agent 47 (2015) 6.5/10

I'm being rather generous with a 6.5 rating here. There are some good qualities eg. decent action scenes; good car chase with that red RS7; 1st Hollywood movie filmed in Singapore...but lots of poor qualities as well like eg. Mr 47 does not do the role justice & is too one dimensional; Zachary Quinto looks awkward in the combat scenes; many scenes that are just downright unrealistic. If you are a <The Transporter> lover you would probably enjoy this movie.

I still don't know how I feel about the movie. Watched it a while ago and still mulling it.

Oh yeah sorry. I know the estate of David Wallace disavowed it but to me it works in the vein of The Social Network where you don't worry about how autobiographical it is

I'm not too worried about that. I just meant the movie as a whole. I do think it's worth a watch though
 
Ex Machina. 9/10

There are so many factors that play into that score, something that even mentioning the factors out loud to someone that has not seen the film, is already a spoiler.

Suffice to say, I didn't know anything about the film, other than the guess that it was about an AI of some kind. The film was not entirely what I expected to find, but boy was I pleasantly surprised.

The acting is not award winning, but not far off. The actors are purposely non-mainstream, but still good. The camera work, the plot development, establishing shots, intrigue. All just really come together to leave a lasting impression.

It is 5 days on from when I last watched it, and 'Ex Machina' still pops into my mind more often than sex does. :D

EDIT and ADVICE: If you plan to watch this movie. DO NOT read anything about it. Not reviews, or anything. Just watch it.

Haha, that part was awesome. Still so hard to tell where Nathan's Sociopathy Begins and his 'forced character flaws to enable the end game of his Turing test' Ends. Which is part of why the Film has stuck with me for so many days. I have unresolved questions about so many things in the movie. Just like I have unresolved questions in life.
It grounds the movie and the characters in a way that most Hollywood blockbusters are just not able to do.

Fantastic Four (2015) 3.5/10

Yes after all the exceptionally poor reviews of this reboot I thought I would watch it to see what all the fuss is about. Its crap; there is no 2 ways about it. Poor story; cheesy lines; poor character development; its actually downright boring for a Marvel movie & its just over 1h30min....yet it still drags...big time.

It still not the worse movie I have seen this yr though that would go to movies like: Oliver, Stoned; The Walking Deceased; Bikini Model Academy.

The 2005 Fantastic Four is a relative masterpiece compared to this turd.

Beautiful cinematography, old English countryside, post Victorian charm...
But the story?.. Jacobs ladder in the 30's

I don't know - weird.

The best and most accurate statement I've ever read about a movie was about the Fantastic Four (2015),

The Signal (2014) 6.5/10

"On a road trip, Nic and two friends are drawn to an isolated area by a computer genius. When everything suddenly goes dark, Nic regains consciousness - only to find himself in a waking nightmare." Pretty good Sci-Fi Thriller; twist at the end. Young Aussie lad Brenton Thwaites is up & coming; just recently I saw him in & .


American Ultra (2015) 6/10

"A stoner - who is in fact a government agent - is marked as a liability and targeted for extermination. But he's too well-trained and too high for them to handle." Below par action comedy; its a bit of a mess.Role does not suit Jesse Eisenberg.


Absolutely Anything (2015) 7/10

"A group of eccentric aliens confer a human being with the power to do absolutely anything, as an experiment." Excellent; original & fresh UK comedy. Kudos to Simon Pegg & Robin Williams who plays his dog Dennis.Fully amusing for the full 85 mins.
