Movie Mini-Review Thread

By the way, release group CM8 just issued a notice that they are in possession of 40 DVDscr releases and will start releasing them all from today over the next couple of days. The first one released by them is the hottest title, The Hateful Eight. So, for those interested, gear up for some great watching the next week or two :)

DVDScreener 1 of 40, will do them all one after each other, started with the hottest title of this year, the rest will follow.

Godfather 3 wasn't so great. 1 and 2 on the other hand, it's hard to find fault. Clear 10s.

My whole argument around this has just been that if you don't score anything a 10, then your 9 is a de facto 10. Like, what point would there be in a 100 point test scoring system where it was impossible for any student to score 100?

I would also rate LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies a 10.

Not everyone's cup of tea but there are many highly rated movies that are the same - 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Dark Knight being two of them.

Not that they don't deserve their reputation, they just don't do it for me.

I could maybe buy LOTR but The Hobbit was absolutely terrible. It felt so boring and artificially extended to make it a trilogy. The tone was completely all over the place as if Jackson couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted to follow the light hearted tone of the book or an epic like LoTR.

The Hobbit gets 3/10.
 
Yep, I think the point is that The Hobbit is a 10 - for me.

And maybe for others as well, while some will agree with you and only give it a 3.

I read the Movie reviews on ATV and it's quite fun seeing whether the critics and the viewers are of the same mind.

There are times when the critics rave but the viewers give it a universal meh, but more often is the case where the critics really don't like the movie but the viewers to a man/woman give it 5 stars.

I'm sure there are those who could care less for The Shawshank Redemption and there will be those who think Fast and Furious is what movies were invented for.

Each to their own.
