If you are up in JHB- try and see it at the biggest screen that you can (I think Monte's Il Grande is the biggest). I am actually going to re-watch this movie there

Jack Reacher - 7/10

Started off a bit slow, with a few corny scenes (bathroom fight), but got better at the end.

Not Tom Cruise's best work, but worth a watch.

Watched Silver Linings Playbook

Really interesting movie, Bradley Cooper suffers from bipolar disorder and tries in an unconventional way to get together with his estranged wife with the help of Jennifer Lawrence who is also trying to get her life back in order after a tragedy.

Hat tip to Robert De Niro for a good overall performance and interesting factoids: "Among its 8 Academy Award nominations, this film became the first to earn nods in all four acting categories since Reds and the first "Big Five" (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Writing) nominee since Million Dollar Baby."

Solid 8 out of 10 and when I eventually watch it again I might bump it up to 9 (longevity and rewatchability) is important for me!

Parker - 8/10. Jason Stratham crime action movie. Also stars Jennifer Lopez.

Seven Psychopaths, with Christoper Walker / Woody Harrelson / Sam Rockwell / Colin Farrel. 8/10. Very enjoyable! Had a few good laughs! Christopher Walken gives a great performance as always.

Really enjoyed it as well. Christopher Walken never fails to entertain.

Total Recall - 7/10 something didn't quite jel with me on this movie, and they over do the light flares, every single scene has yellow and blue stripes floating around.

What doesn't jel is the acting of Colin Farrel, he's not entirely convincing in an action role...

Red Lights - 7/10 with Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro. Mystery, Psychological thriller. Story dragged a bit but ending made up for it.

I've been watching quite a lot of 90s and 80s flicks recently.

Groundhog Day - 10/10. I can't remember enjoying it so much the first time around, but now my impression is that it has to be at least in the top 10 films of the 1990s. How do you classify it? Sci-fi? Magical realism? Bill Murray's performance and Harold Ramis's direction are just sublime - he wrings so many ideas out of one central concept, and takes it to the ultimate conceptual limit.

E.T. - 9/10. Very charming and intimate, and optimistic. Spielberg always manages to get these incredibly authentic performances out of small children.

Jurassic Park - 9/10. The effects lose nothing over time. You can kind of see that the CG animation is a bit creaky when the Tyrannosaurus runs after the car, but otherwise it's still permeated with this sense of wonder. I think that's a Spielberg trademark.

Fascinating documentary delving into the psychological depths of a man on the edge.
Biased from the POV of the filmaker, but that's Herzog.

Yeah that was good. Check out Cave of Forgotten Dreams and Aguirre: The Wrath of God if you want to follow the Werner Herzog path.

Hey that's one of my childhood/teens favorites . I accidentally saw it on tv one day, I was completely mesmerized by it back in the day.
