So you live off ratings then? I'll use it as a guide but it's up to the person to see if they enjoy it or not. And a some critics are biased. I've seen some real *** have good ratings as well.

That's the next thing people with poor taste say. Oh, well then you're just a slave of ratings, you can't have your own opinions. It's nonsense of course. Critics are people who love an art form enough that they have developed an expertise in it and can pass a critical judgement on it. They know more than you or I do about the process of creation, the genre, the techniques of cinematography and directorship and so on.

I very often have to defer my own judgement when I come across a passage of keen critrical writing that shows how flawed my assessment of something was; or enables me to appreciate something in a way that I would never have done on my own. It doesn't mean that my taste has to correspond with the taste of every critic; but to recognise a piece of work as objectively good or bad is a crucial ability that without it, disqualifies you from passing an evaluation on anything.

Yes, me too!!! I skipped through most of the singing. Was like wtf did I just watch lol!!

And sound of music :D

@cerebus: Did someone step on one of your iDevices that you are so mad...? Why you mad bro..?

I'm not mad at all. How did you read that post and get the impression that I was upset?

Babette's Feast - 8/10. Contemplative sort of film about the power of cooking.

Watching The Day of the Jackal tonight, the original. I remember it being brilliant but it's been years since I first saw it.

Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)

Interesting movie with amazing visuals, but I am confused at who this is aimed at. Seems a bit scary for children and silly for adults. 7/10

Why is this thread in the wrong section?

Pain and Gain (2013)

7/10

Entertaining story, but not very gripping. Easy to watch, brainless entertainment.

Agree.. Entertaining. Not too be taken seriously.

Evil Dead 1981 : 6/10
Evil Dead 2013 : 3/10
Star Wars Episode IV : 8/10
Star Wars Episode V : 7/10
Video Game High School : 6/10 (Entertaining, check S02 on youtube)

Spring Breakers 1/10.
The director must've been trying to get back at his mother for naming him Harmony by doing this movie.
Its a bottom of the barrel lurid piece of sh.t. Tries to be artistic and symbolic but its essentially a b grade exploitation flick.

But Pain and Gain was based on a true story, the real events that took place 2 decades ago. It will be difficult not to take it up seriously knowing they are now on death row awaiting to be executed.

Agree to a point but the issue me and a couple people found is that the beginning is very light-hearted with the 2nd half being very dark.
Had they gone dark the whole way that would be something else. I enjoyed it and the crimes are serious but it's a movie. #Yolo

Oblivion - 4/10 - predictable yawn fest. Tom Cruise sucks.

GI Joe - Retaliation - 3/10 - for the abs guy. Rest of the movie was total cr@p.
