Moving hosting servers

Hi Guys.
Noob wrt to this.

I have a hosting package with Webafrica.

I seem to be on an older server with low disk pace and need to migrate to a new one with more disk space at the same price.
The support said I could not just get more disk space on my server though magically they are charging more when I'm over the limit.

Now questions.

1. It this bulldust? Why can't they sell me more space

If I move to the new server they said they cannot move my content automatically.
Basically I have some emails on the server which I need to access at times via my IMAP accounts on different devices.
They said I have to download all to my PC via POP.

2. If q1 is true then is there any way no move my content to the new server?

Please help.
 
Set up account for IMAP on old and new server. You can then just drag the emails over from one server to the other using Thunderbird for example. Will use some bandwidth to and from your pc, but you wont lose your mails.

Thanks but what about the domain name and DNS that point to the original hosted server?

Most of that you should be able to manage yourself. Fairly certain you can point the domain to the new DNS servers via your customer zone. Also WA can assist you with some of the things, eg. help you in the right direction with DNS updates and show you how to update the domain in the customer zone. They just wont help you moving the files/db/emails around.

That said, the newer control panel on the new servers is better than the old stuff they have, which is Helm for Windows or super old Plesk for Linux.

You host with a hosting company and you have your adsl with an ISP

Don't host with an isp it's a world of headaches when it comes to support.
