I have been throttled by MWEB for the first time in 3 years since I got my account from them. Apparently in the last 30 days I have used 267GB of data even while being away in Mozambique from 12 Dec until 6 Jan AND having my line unplugged during that time.

It's time to move on now.

Can someone advise which ISP I should look at and why? I don't download torrents and stuff at home but I do use Netflix and ntv dot mx for TV and play Diablo 3 from time to time.

I need an uncapped connection that is NOT going to give me hassles. I want to be able to sign up automatically online without dealing with sales people etc.

Any advice please?

afrihost is good i used there business uncapped. was good while i was there
now using crystalweb they also very good no complaints.

You know you can log onto the mweb website, and see the usage per day. Then if the usage is extremely high on the days you were in Mozambique, you can challenge them. I would suggest you do that.

Personally, I have heard Afrihost and Vox is pretty good, but I am still stuck with MWEB, till my fibre line is installed.

Vox is amazing. on capped packages. I dont know about the uncapped, but I believe in rather paying for what you use then trying to gipo the system and get uncapped. but that is my opinion.

I also know a few people on Crystal Web that are very happy.

I know a lot of people that have moved away from Afrihost, apparently the new network is good, stable, reliable. but honestly I will not give them a chance again. once bitten twice shy.

side note, stay away from Web africa, your Bnet will be throttled because it is seen as P2p traffic, this will lead to other things slowing down quite a lot.

I went from Mweb uncapped after 5 years with them to Vox uncapped and I have never been happier.
Not only does Vox provide a better priced product but also a nice latency drop .

For me the benefit of staying with Mweb is the free access to Always On network.

The wifi connection at Canal Walk is 100mb/s and there is "No" cap on it so its great for doing iOS updates.

You don't state your linespeed.

I'm guessing you're on standard uncapped and that's why you're getting throttled on such a low amount.

Rather just make your life easier and upgrade to Premium.

With VOX uncapped though you have to get a package that's double your line speed because the thresholds are so low.

I think you missing the point, he was away for quite some time, yet his line showed huge usage when it was unplugged.

And it's been 14 days since he has gotten back. Very easy to that amount. Than likely he isn't monitoring his downloads and on standard uncapped.

The things is I could afford to jump from a 2 Mb Mweb uncapped business , to a Vox 8Mb uncapped ...
Thresholds take place regardless of Mweb and Vox . Vox`s thresholds i staggered though ... not just a slap bang ... "you now have worse than Dialup speeds , regards Mweb "

Now you're not making sense. MWEB Business doesn't have thresholds.

If you had a 4Meg Mweb Premium account, you would need a 8Meg VOX account to have a similar experience.

Sorry , apologies ... not business , I had 2 Mb premium uncapped account

I don't download stuff at home. I use my connection mainly to watch TV and play Diablo.

Thanks guys, I am going to give Crystal Web a chance and see how that goes. I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

I'm not much of a Mweb or uncapped fan especially with capped products having uncapped on from 12pm to 6am.

On uncapped products they all suck enough said!!

On any capped products (except Openweb) your get 90-100% of what your line is capable of at all times until you reach your cap, if you schedule your downloads between 12pm and 6am you don't have to worry too much about your cap.

I'm on Axxess 300gig capped and pull about 600gigs a month without any complaints but if you were happy with Mweb up until this point maybe you should consider staying with them. Phone them and see if your usage is correct.

You try micromanage bandwidth usage on more than 15 devices connecting to your home network ...
Its just not feesable to have a capped account in my house .
Between my wife , son , daughter ....and myself i guess , unless I go full network admin mode ( I tried this , and the tension it caused pointing fingers as to who is responsible for eating up all the data was not worth it :p ) I don't see myself going capped anytime soon.

I suppose if your ok with average speeds, 0.5kb/s download speeds on torrents during the day and softcaps that render your line useless at the end of the month that's cool.

I like downloading torrents at 900kb/s whenever i want and playing games without lag.

If you ask your ISP to give you your usage over the last 6 months and its 200gigs, you then get a 300gig package with after hours free downloads. It will be very hard to hit your cap.

That's why I said if your ISP only messed up once why get rid of them consider keeping them.

Afternoon fixx, please do provide me your MWEB account details via private message in order for me to have a closer look at your account.

I hope you decide to stay with us or at least allow me the opportunity to look at your account.

It would be a good move to drop Lagweb. I recommend Crystalweb.
No funny stuff, restarting your router etc...

Just buy the right account for your needs. If you do, then uncapped is great.
