MP3 vs AIFF vs AAC vs . . .

The world moved on to steaming yonks ago. I even deleted my offline music since the stuff not available on streaming I wont miss that much.
I like to own the things I pay for, not rent it. Your streaming only works for as long as your overlords deem it suitable for you. Go look at Louis Rossman on YT about how easily 'your stuff' can be taken from you

so i tried a track "love kills" - freddie mercury.

opus version seems to have a bit more "depth" and "layering" - its hard to describe.
most definitely going to explore some more.

thanx
Opus is a fantastic piece of software engineering. At full tilt I've found it transparent to raw, but on anything lesser than clinical audio equipment amps/dacs/speakers/iems it actually sounds better encoded as opus than a lossless source as the phycoaucustics are optimised already so there's less in the pipeline to introduce noise

Lol the same guy that created an ad free youtube player. Double standards much. I can't listen to that narcissist too much.

+1 for Spotify

That said, I still have my locally stored music library as I was using it more than 10 years ago, thought I'd check the bitrate, 320 is high norm

Also, who remembers this old bit of software

All I need now is an HTC Desire HD, terribly long hair and having to walk everywhere to have the 2010's experience

But, if it doesn't physically exist, how can it be taken away, as you couldn't have had it in the first place.

Also, nothing on the internet is available from only 1 source, if one takes it away, move to another.

oh yes
winamp

its partner in crime, winmx was a joy !

I have many tracks in low bitrates, had a quick listen, below 128 the difference becomes discernable, but only around 24 and some 48 kbps songs are bad enough to affect casual listening, less so if they've been resampled properly as its less noticeable then.

Hatefull experience that, appart from the couple of months I was able to share the BBM network's cheap internet with my pc, think it was 25 - 125kbps, but it worked.

Only got actual internet a few years after when I moved to Jhb.
