Got myself that card. Its giving problems though. When I try and overclock it just a little bit the game I play freezes or the pc freezes with the audio also kinda freezing like a cd that is scratched.

Even on out the box clocks with no setting changed it does that. Now I'm not sure if its the graphics card or my psu cause on idle it works without freezing.

My pc specs:
AMD Phenom II x6 1100T oc to 4Ghz
Asus Crosshair V Formula mobo
MSI GTX 670 2GB
8 GB Corsair RAM

now the PSU I have for like 2 years now and it also ran my 6850 crossfire for about a year : Cooler Master Extreme RS-650-PCAR-E3 650 Watt

I think it might be my PSU but how can I know for sure..... I see this PSU only has 18A on the 12V rails. Now that could be a bit less for a overcloked phenom and gtx 670 but not sure.... Some advice would be cool.

Another thing is I would like to buy a new psu on my RCS card [because its long weekend and want to game]. So I was looking at the PSU from Matrixwarehouse and they sell the Aerocool PSU's which spec wise look pretty decent.

ANY 1 know what PSU's Computer Corporation [http://www.computercorporation.co.za/ ] sell cause they accept RCS and their site is just poor. Never went to their store before so not really sure how their prices are too. :)

Ok so Computer corp is a no go? :)

Which MSI 670 you have? I was interested in 670 PE

I wont do CC rather do rebeltech or someone better.

No I have the normal oc one http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=6588

Anyways I don't have extra 1k or so laying around now that is why I was thinking of getting it on my rcs card in time for the weekend IF it is the PSU. Otherwise I would just buy a antec or Corsair PSU. Couple of nice ones I saw with the online shops.

Well I can tell you it's not the wattage alone that is the problem, but more likely a defective PSU, if indeed the PSU.

I have a GTX 670, and it runs well on my Huntkey 550W PSU.

And if you crossfired the Radeons, that means your Wattage would actually be quite a bit less now.

Going by that logic, I'd say something's cooking with that card, sad to say.

On what setting is your VSYNC now? Turn it off totally in Nvidia control panel, as well as triple buffering and tell us what happens...

I have a power edition and its goin thru an RMA i only used it for a day and sent it back.... Sumtin not right wid Those msi cards.... And yes it was doin the exact same thing n i have a corsair hx750 psu i sort of diagnosed the problem i was having maybe ur card is doin the same , just run afterburner in the background wen u run a game and take note of the power percentage graph the cards power threshold is 114% max my card was spiking up to 295% the card has been with msi agents since last week tuesday and they havent given any feedback to my reseller hope im offered a refund will go for an evga ftw or gigabyte windforce

I always have those setting off.

Did you increase the GPU voltage enough when you overclocked it?

I'm having the same problem on the stock clocks. I leave it as it came without changing ANYTHING and after 10 min of playing sleeping dogs the game goes not responding and freezes or my pc freezes.

I hope its not. I hate returning faulty hardware. Takes forever.

my anti-MSI sentiment aside, did u test it in another pc or turn off your OverClock ? I suspect the OC...

Bought my first MSI card last month (GTX 670) and promptly went through the massive hassle of returning it.

Fan made a constant low grinding sound, even though temperates were 25-35' idling. Some people could live with it - but in a quiet office it quickly gets under your skin. MSI claimed they couldn't hear a thing as I expected - it's simply just bad build quality.

It was the stock 670 though, so that PE might be fine.

So which 670 is the better one then? I want cool and fast :)

Terrible build quality even with the power edition , my power edition is in RMA, two weeks now and I havent got any feedback from MSI through my retailer, even my retailer says MSI is not responding to them. The power edition is so heavy it slants from the pci slot yet they put a couple of strengthening parts on the card to keep it rigid its no where near rigid. All the stuff MSI claim to provide is marketing hogwash. Im one of those MSI faithful's I only use MSI components because they have been such an established brand here in SA , but looks like I have to look elsewhere from now on.

so I bought a new PSU. The graphics card seem fine and performs well considering but I was ecpecting a little bit more. Maybe I had high expectations but yes it ok. Battlefield 3 on its maximum setting gives about 70-80 FPS on my 1080p screen. So in that sense it runs well and that on stock clocks.

The thing that bothers me is that even with such a low overclock in afterburner I still get the card reverting the clocks. Looks like the card I have DOES not like overclocking. In fact I get better FPS sometimes if I don'y overclock it. I fear as a old ATI faithful that I should have just bought the HD7970.

That is the thing about overclocking...

Some settings will give you worse performance because the GPU & memory can sort of become out of sync.

Typically if you increase both the GPU & memory speeds (in an equal %), you should get a linear performance increase too, because the 2 should stay in sync that way.

Also, 70-80fps on maximum settings on 1080p is rather impressive.

Cool. did a few tests and I have to say ok. This card is not so bad considering its price. By just overclocking it a very lil bit I get WAY more stable FPS on battlefield 3 not going less than 70 for most part except when flying it doesn't go below 65FPS. Usually way more.
