PC won't work with new graphics card

If you can't see anything on boot ie bios screen etc, drivers etc are not going to help, it's either a bios issue or hardware compatibility.
 
ok changed my bios to EUFI, in the BIOS then had to convert my drive. So now my "system" page says BIOS mode : EUFI.

It came on and displayed the boot up screen! Then I shut it down mid boot to put the case back together thinking it was A OK... and now it's back to being black and square one!

ughhh...

If it worked once it will work again, reverse and repeat the steps again, don't interrupt any boot processes. You should have a EFI partition on your hdd.
 
I'm running it now, back to the old 1060... no short I promise :)

So I had the HDMI in the on board section and the new GPU inserted and powered, I just wanted to see if Windows could see it in Device Manager.. alas not.. but the LED's were flickering and then they just go off, they don't come back on again even after a complete shutdown, very weird.

I even took the HDD out to see if that was causing any conflict, if it was you'd still see a boot screen etc, alas nothing!

To me it's like the motherboard isn't powering the GPU fully, hence the flickering LED lights..

Motherboard shouldn't be, it has the 8 pin to power it further then the 75w the mobo should.
 
yeah it's just strange the GPU LED's flicker and then go off, it's like the motherboard is telling the PCIe slot that it must power down or something..

I mean I plug mu old card back in (also 8pin power, exactly the same) and it all lights up and is 100% perfect..
 
It may be due to the "peak wattage" or max power draw that your new card has vs the old card. I remember there being a huge argument on these forums about what you need for Nvidia's highest end graphics and how some people were saying 1000W is needed because of the peak draw of the card. Maybe your board simply cannot supply enough power to the card when it peaks?
 
Is 3060ti new or used? In both cases the card is faulty

card is perfect, all working 100%.
newish PSU is 1000w so no problem there.

it's not constant which is puzzling, I took the RAM out to see if it was causing an issue, then tried no RAM, 1 RAM module, then 2 RAM modules etc. Then it came on (I know its working because the keyboard and mouse light up) it got to the usual checksum error (because I've been restarting it and shutting it down a million times) and then poof the card just turns off (like the LEDs) the fans still run 100%, I know when the LEDs are off the card brains aren't working...

I've seen other forums and people running 3080's off the same old board no problem.. very very weird
 
did you tried in different slot yet. Reset bios. Cmos. Checked pins etc. No need to take ram stick out. If gpu led is on.

yeah I've done pretty much all I can possibly think of and all the other stuff people recommend.
To me it's something on the lines of an old motherboard not accepting a new GPU... even if I put the card in and run the HDMI off the on board, you would think Windows would see it in device manager, but nope.
 
I still believe your card is faulty. Just try and reseat cpu and see what happened.
 
yeah CPU is perfect, I'm using the PC right now :) I've put the old card back in, the GTX 1060
BIOS flashed to latest version and reset to defaults, battery out, waited 5 min and tried again... also restored defaults in the BIOS, still nada..

computers... ughhh....
