Hi MTNDD

I did manage to log a call with your coverage department on 30/06/2006.

I received an SMS at 15:57 the same day:

"Y'ello thank you for your query. Your ref is 0009292. You will receive a call from Lynton Klassen within 5 working days to discuss your concerns."

Well I am still waiting for this call.

Why do MTN always advertise 3G on TV and the areas they covered, but in reality it is not true and people are complain about bad coverage, but they still sell 3G phones, shouldn't the coverage be available before the product is sold so people can make uses of it?

MTN DD: My cell displays this info "Yello Broadband", does it necessary means I have 3G/HSDPA coverage in my area. I need to be sure before I commit to contract.

If it says Yello Broadband then you have Edge as far as 3G I don't know give me the area and your physical address and I'll check for you.

How would u know for certain u are getting HSDPA speeds? Up to where does 3G go... i'm assuming that i was on HSDPA the other day while the world cup was being played - cause i was downloading at 176KBps... which was 1406kbps i think. But alas - that was the one and only time that's ever happened. I mostly have 1bar and download at about 50KBps

And i'm also wondering what the point is of having HSDPA in an open area outside with no metal or things around... do i have to always go outside to get HSDPA reception? Or does MTN take into account that "Some" mtn users might be using their laptops indoors?
:)

Good day,

All please see if you guys can access this site

http://flplanopt3/facts/documents/Coverage/CoverageWebMain.html

The only way to know if you're connected at HSDPA is by the speed experienced and also to maybe do an online broadband test to see what kind of speeds you getting. With the E620 it's quite sensitive and I've gotten quite a difference now that I have the internal antenna, look a 2db gain isn't much but it helps.

HI MTNDD

If I get 1 bar 3G/HSDPA Reception and the connection drops to GRPS/EDGE full bars without the external antenna, do you think I will get 1 or 2 bars 3G/HSDPA with the external antenna?

I know there is a lot of stuff to take into consideration but let's say that it's under perfect conditions.

With the internal probably not, with the external more than likely

But can't guarantee anything bud

Maybe once we got the whole external antenna thing sorted maybe coverage can come test one and see before you commit to anything.

Cool, I'm going to buy one anyway. Just waiting for Century City to let me know when it arrives.

Hi MTNDD

Still waiting for that call.

Coverage

My apologies if I am asking questions that everybody knows. I have poked around for 30 minutes and I am no closeer to knowing these two simple things:

Where is there a detailed coverage ma for MTN? The one on mtn.co.za is useless. URL please.

What number can I phone for technical assistance?
