MTN 3G coverage SUX

Hi Mtn Dd. Do you know if port shepstone has edge or just gprs? When can we expect 3g here? Thanx. Akash

Sky.akash, you may want to try Vodacom 3G again - the new tower in Marburg is live now.

No wonder VC has more coverage as Telkom will provide them with E1's first.

If they are giving Vodacom the links faster then the rest, then I pity the other guys cos they are taking ages with some of the Vodacom links!

To think that I will have had my 3G phone for close to 2 years by then.....

Good day,

Look that's the latest so could be done from now until then that's completion date

Could it be that something is really happening with MTN's 3G?
Got a 3G signal up to the Koeberg Interchange as I was leaving Cape Town yesterday. Hopefully they will be switching some towers on now.

MTN is investing in a fast solution to the 3G problem in Cape Town.
The more people buy in the quicker it would be up all over Cape Town.

I know that some areas near the mountain & atlantic seaboard might have problems with coverage, but what about the other areas where Vodacom has had coverage for ages already? Those areas are definitely not problem areas.

MTN will not put an aerial on my roof as I do not live in a "problem" area.

Hi MTNDD

I think you might have it wrong. I do NOT live in a problem area, but please tell us more about the "Yagi".

Thanks

Well you can get a Yagi from Poynting it gives you a 11db gain which is awesome the only problem is you need to make up a connector

No 3G/HSDPA coverage

Hi there MTN_DD

I tested a friend of mine's MTN Data card tonight with some shocking results. No HSDPA coverage and no 3G coverage whatsoever. I tested in Protea Heights (Brackenfell, Western Cape) and in Vredekloof (Brackenfell, Western Cape). What can he do to get some better coverage ? Buy an antenna perhaps ?

I will pm u his details tomorrow.

Your help is always much appreciated.

Only the City Centre, Century City and Airport have 3G coverage so an antenna won't help

Good day,

Was your friend getting HSDPA/3G speeds in this area before? If not then you would have to log a coverage complaint so that the coverage guys can invetigate otherwise if he has it might be a case of link being down.......

Let me know?

Thanks MNTDD

That's not supposed to be shocking. If you look on the map you will se that there is no 3G/HSDPA coverage in that area. I also live in Brackenfell and I work in Parow. No 3G/HSDPA coverage from MTN, only Vodacom.
