MTN Black Friday Discussions

Actually wouldn’t mind these. Currently paying R530 for 100gb from axxess so I think I will ditch that for this option. MTN’s network is much more reliable especially during the evening/night. Whereas cell C struggles during those times

Very bad deals.
Meh deals.Quite happy to have skipped this ;) Will just cancel and move on.Could have gotten 10gb more for R50 less. Not sure about data roll over on promotional offer like this. Currently my deal with the expection of night express and promotional data the 10gb rolls over quite happy with that. I am going to have a hard time finishing 20gb a month.

Any idea when the cut off for acceptance of these offers is? Would be nice to wait and see what's available on BF.

So for those on the 2016 BF deals how will porting your number to another network work if we don't take any deals now/from MTN?

If we want to port during BF?

Not sure. But my deal started 'in the beninging' of Jan 2017. So hopefully I get another 50gb this month and next if MTN doesn't screw me. I'll decide after that

link to this or what is this

that 60 +30 isnt a bad deal

Im up at 6 most of the time and that 1 hour till 7 is mostly my morning browsing

Say this R299 deal for 60 + 30 is valid ...would you sign another 24 month or rather switch over to a month to month 50 gig for R349 from axcess or someone using Cell c

How good is the cellc network. ? Then the axess deal is better. My problem is I don't have have fixed LTE, so axess is out of the question, I would most definitely go with month to month, I hate contracts, generally always go with cheap contracts which makes cancelling them cheap in the event I need to. Was quite happy with afrihost, would have gone with axess but the data bundle I got was small and generally used the entire bundle, making the data rollover a mute point.

However having a contract is nice as it means it's fixed and there is nothing else to concern your self with other then the monthly bill. That said mtn is better, network, support has always been good to me, and it's 10 gig more and isn't fixed.24 months is meh, it's still cheap enough in the event you need to cancel down the line.

I would just check if the data rolls over.

i get excellent signal with all networks

LTE and good DL speeds of around 15-30mb

the only thing with another 24 months is that data prices have dropped since the last BF deal with almost everyone having more data for less than previous years

but then 90gb for R299 isnt bad at all ..Only sad thing no free mins cause those free mins came to good use when needed

If you bolt on a 100 min bundle, it's like R100.00 more it's still a decent deal. R400.00, for 90gigs total data and 100 minutes that isn't restricted to any networks, you could always bolt on half mtn-mtn and half any network, and still be a good deal, or is a 100 minutes not enough ?

I dont need it as i have other free mins ..its a good bonus though if it does come for free :D

I am with axxess and cell c right now, I would definitely switch to this because cell c network is a problem after 7pm or
So. It’s not very reliable

Ah okay well your choice, do you have any other internet at home ?

Nope just this MTN with my xbox connected to it and normal browsing between the wife and I and the kid who uses it for youtube ...

i have a dual sim so the other sim sits in a cell that goes with us as a hotspot when needed

Is it ?

My cousin was on cell c and never had issues (lives 2 doors away from me)

but on a month to month its easier to escape if there are issues

I trust cellc as far as I can throw them, and they roam too much for my liking, axess may also restrict the network speed like afrihost did to me, come hell or high water with afrihost is almost constantly at 5mbps or less
What afrihost gives me right now.
Ping: 37ms
Download: 2.12Mbps
Upload: 1.94Mbps

Had to chop and change APN as well to load airtime to make sure the sim doesn't expire, changing and checking that you are on the right APN can be a hassle as well, had a R450.00 shool fee when the APN wasn't correctly changed.Resellers definitely get less network priority, when the network is congested.Generally contract users get first priority and generally the last to get shaped or reduced in speed.

I think by the time your contract is done, spectrum would have been allocated digital tv debacle over and done with, it's unlikely to see massive changes in the bundle price landscape in the next two years.

But yes no contract is a nice thing, but you holding out for a miracle if you ask me.I have nothing to lose, my next upgrade is in 2020/02 so I am happy to ride it out for a year and a half.

Those deals aren't bad. I'm actually looking for a new phone too, wonder how that will work?
