MTN Black Friday Discussions

That’s true, but my advice to everybody here is to chill, let’s see what they offer new Black Friday clients next week Friday. These deals they offered us are valid till February 2019.

Dont see any indication these are valid till Feb 2019??

So I spoke to someone at mtn and the datasheet of offers he listed matched the one posted here but said there's some confusion about the amount of gigs being offered daytime night time etc, says he'll call me back once he has confirmation from higher up.

I want to make sure I can take out that deal for R149 then I'll just wait for next Friday and see what comes up before pulling the trigger.

Wonder how porting 3 numbers with different maturity dates, to a Telkom freeme family package would work? So many variables and moving parts for MTN/Telkom to fck up...

Is it 10gb anytime + 10gb night time or 20+10?

Did anyone here already take out the upgrade and can tell us?

No idea, I have a sinking feeling the stupid consultant signed me up for that deal, instead of the 20gig +20gig, as I only got 20gig +10gig this morning.Fixing that is going to be a Fup of note.
Wouldn't you prefer 20+10 for R149 than 20+20 for R299?

This is what I plan on doing but want to cancel before BF in case telkom sweeten the current free me family deals enough to consider a 24 month contract.

I still have the BF sim, as is. I wanted the additional contract, for business use, especially the night express.BF sim was a free for all household sim(my name but I wasn't paying for it), so holding out for better deals on BF to upgrade to, or cancel it and use my other cheapy contract and migrate that.

Used afrihost, for business as I could load bundles fairly cheaply or load night express bundles as needed, or in a rush enable OOB, afrihost wasn't cost effective anymore, which is why I went with an additional contract.I think there was some confusion as to why I went with a new contract :D

I called the centre. They only offered me the more expensive “deals” but in fact they are not deals. “Deals” was what we got when we paid no extra for extra data. They’re just offering us different priced packages. No deals to see here. Wait until Black Friday, hopefully there is something enticing... otherwise just go with the network with the best deal

How do you cancel early if you took the package this time in 2016 though? Penalties? I actually got a few deals on the proceeding weeks when the specials were repeated.

If you recall MTN BF deal was available as a sim only deal. Then they repeated it on the Monday but not sim only. And then a think a month later they offered it again, and again not sim only... I got 3 of these offers all expiring at different times, 1 on the 4th December, 1 on the 12th of February 2019 and 1 on the 9th January 2019. The contracts only kicked in once the sims and phones had actually been delivered. For me that was weeks after actually signing up.

Man, this is going to get fugly.

If one were to sign up for a Telkom freeme family package, that comes with 3 sims, 50gb of data and 500 minutes @R1005 a month. I'd want to port my current 3 numbers to the new Telkom sims, as those 3 current contracts expire...

Oh wow, so on the R149 we now have 3 potential permutations. 10gb anytime + 10gb night time, 20gb anytime + 10gb night time, 20gb anytime...

The deals via email had specific codes attached to it. I will go check with the Mtn shop around upgrading.

Hence my questions a few posts back. Is it allowed (CPA) to attach penalties to sim only contracts other then paying for the current period where data etc has been allocated already.

You would think not on a sim only deal and maybe cause MTN probably aren't making much profit on these deals they'd be prepared to cancel prematurely without penalties. Doubt it though cause it would be creating a precedent.

we need someone to post a screen shot when they get the data with a screen shot of the bill of R149 in the app

Until then I am not going to believe anyone
