MTN Black Friday Discussions

May I ask, how are you trying to datashare?

1. Through the myMTN app or 2. Through the USSD method.

Ps. I had a similar problem when I tried activating through number 1, it just wasn't Activating, But worked with number 2(ussd)

Steps for number 2 :

- Dial *141*5#
- should arrive at a menu
- Select option 3

- then select option 3 again for data share

Thus, you can link or delink numbers :)
Thanks, I tried but still get the error below:
"you are not sharing any Internet bundles. To set up data share please contact your service provider"

I have activated data share for the number via the call center.
Datashare is working on mine :)
Do you also have a dual sim on that number?

Thanks for the post above, once you've completed the process above, the nominee then get an SMS confirming the Data share activation, what then? Does the recipient then just use data, is there a way of checking how much data they have to use (from the Data share bundle)

Yes, nominee should then be able to use the data :)

And with regards to the balance, the owner /main sim card, can only see the balance. Data share works on your recurring bundles aka "standard" data and NOT the promo data.

Does data share or dual SIM work on the made for me contract?

Mtn just topped me up with 30gb...so basically it seems they got the data part correct apart from the night data of which 40gb is missing. Minutes of 150min is there but what was all this 500min on the phone with retentions when we applied for this R299 deal??

I am sitting with so much data i dont know what to do with it. Signed for the R299.00 deal and i have over 100gb at present available. The 10000 minutes have always remained. I am happy :).
Same

Upgraded to Mtn chocie 30GB on the 21st of Nov. Still no promo data allocated and the remaining Black friday promo data from before the upgrade also disappeared yesterday

I had over 100Gb as well.

Seems MTN has fixed this as i now have just over 60Gb

so called the lady and she said they dont have a clue whats going on as there are many many issues around data allocation.

Someone furked up big time

She had no clue about my dual sim going to prepaid

My data seems to be sorted.

Only didn't get mtn to mtn minutes yet.

Over and above the usual made for me M value , I receive this monthly. Truly a steal for R199.

My issue is that this is a overkill for a smartphone .

If MTN can offer this to a few in the know ( ie those who called retentions and folks on this forum) , why cant they offer something remotely as attractive to the public ? Why must we go through hoops.

Flip, I'd pay R199 for a much less than this value. 20181214_151228.jpeg

I agree. Crazy value for 199pm.
No need to turn on wifi for another 2 years!

Finally sorted Datashare on my 30+30gb contract.

Almost deactivated my dual sim, called Mtn call center, they confirmed Datashare was activated, I put the main sim into a phone for a last try, via ussd it still gave an activation error when trying to add a number.

Last ditch effort, opened the mymtn app to see if I could try there, was forced to update to the latest app version. I went to the Mtn services tab, Datashare, said not active, activated it, sms received, added my prepaid number, sms received on that number, Internet still not working, put it into airline mode then online again - INTERNET WORKING!!!

So dualism and Datashare will work on the Mtn Choice contracts.
