MTN Black Friday Discussions

Correct. Night data rolled over this month (even though the sms said it would expire). The day time Data Share account allocation was split into 2 bundles this month for some reason. Either way, I'm not complaining.

I had like 1gig night data left didnt expire plus i got an extra 10 gig.

If you check the data allocation it now shows made for me, the default data and then the seperate promotional data

my other contract also didnt expire night express. So the 500mb is nothing took the lowest data i could with a device so its super cheap. Not going to renew that contract in march unless there is some seriouly good deals going to wait till next year.

I am looking forward to see what they have in store if they finally decided to roll over night express I will be over the moon

Not that i am complaining at all considering the recent price increase we had.725508

Do we have any inside info into what deals would be available this black briday

might be a bit early for leaked info lol. If they dont double the data its been 4 years now and standard contract data have doubled in size since then so. Unless they offer 100 gig any time data on the previous years 50 gig it is likely going to be meh.Just going to be the same old this year I think.

I think next year should be fun.

They can shove there nighttime data up their arse. If it’s not decent anytime data their moer.
I’m losing that nighttime almost unused every month.

Besides they offering some of these contracts as standard. Shows how kak they were as special Black Friday deals.

There is a quite a bit of people that use night time data so makes sense. But they should have a day time contract only as well for the people that dont use use night data. You will be paying a bucket load more for peak time data however.

Original contracts were full anytime. Not this combo. If there’s not better available there’s no reason to keep the Black Friday deals anymore.

What's the closest alternative that has minutes as well?
Nothing close for the price.

Ah, understood, it sounded like you made a generalisation in your previous post about not needing these BF deals anymore (instead of just in your case).

Stop perpetuating the cycle by supporting these charlatans !

Has anyone found their Night data isn't being used - my anytime data is being flattened at night, I just noticed now my 60GB is almost finished and my night data is almost untouched. Checked my sms's and I got 2 sms late during the last 2 nights saying my anytime data was at 50% and then 80% depleted, both nights I had some downloads running to utilise the night data. My nightime data is also ridiculously large, the rollover is incorrect.

Seems they are having some kind of glitch, what number should I phone at MTN about getting some of my anytime data back or the situation rectified?

Night time data checked right now:

RecurringNight Express Data (Monthly)30.00 GB108.91 GB Remaining

Sequential sms's received last night:

You've used 50% of your Anytime data bundle. Dial *136*2*999# to buy a new bundle, or *135*6# to change your out-of-bundle settings and stay connected.

My daily usage for the 20th and 21st Oct shows as 0mb used...

Does anyone know if it's only the base data that is shared via Datashare and not the Night data?

According to the MTN guy I spoke to now he said my anytime data was used at night(after midnight to 5am) because the data was accessed via a Datashare sim, which is something I have never experienced before.

As far as know and experienced, only the anytime data is shared when using datashare (even after midnight). Only the primary sim will be able to use the night data while data share is active.

But on the other side of the same coin, if data share is disabled then my dual sim and primary sim both access the nighttime data as expected

Ok, well now I know. I've smoked all my anytime data with downloads, I'm screwed for the rest of the month
:(

What cheap once off data bundles are available because I'm going to need around 20Gb till my new bundle is loaded next month.

Ouch, that is a painful lesson. Do you have any points that you can use to load data?

EDIT: you also get 1 Gig free when downloading the new MTN app (every bit counts)

What are points and how do I check them?
I just got the free gb now by chance when I opened the old app on my phone(which is a preapid sim that is datashared) and the prompt for installing the new app popped up.
But if I remember correctly a sim will use the datashare data before it uses the sims native data?

If I remember correctly you can only add or remove datashared numbers via the MTN app?

You can do it via USSD and the MTN website, but the site is bugged as expected and doesnt add the number for some reason (in my experience, not sure if it happens to everyone)
