MTN Black Friday Discussions

I received this SMS in the morning

Y'ello! You are ready to upgrade. If you don't this contract will change from R433.91 to R 972.174 on a month-to-month term on 11/11/23. Promo will also expire.

I'm currently on the 36 month BF, 70gb data and unlimited calls for R499. I'm not sure what to do now, should I wait until next BF or try upgrading from now
Got the same
Waiting...

Sorry it's called MTN mychoice zero. They don't advertise it at all, so you have to ask for it as a upgrade/downgrade option, but it keeps your sim active, indefinitely. Actually a really cool feature. I currently can't afford another sim at the moment so it is perfect for me

Can we maybe use this at time of upgrade to avoid bill shock?

I'm really sad my almost 1000gb a month package is coming to an end... Got an SMS warnibg that I am due for an upgrade and that my price will be increasing once it lapses.

Anyone heard of any good deals again? Can't believe it's been 3 years
Yes wow, the My MTNChoice 400GB

Mine says some odd prices for the 400gb

Y'ello! You are ready to upgrade. If you don't this contract will change from R1,607.83 to R 1276.522 on a month-to-month term on 11/11/23. Promo will also expire.

Also in upgrade period

If anyone gets hold of deal code for ~50GB, 500 MINS for ~R200 please share

Worth the risk if you have a single contract. 2 to 3 years of vastly reduced rates and then one at 250% or so.

Problem is the original BF 2 years cycle was great and the alternate year cycle deals sucked even in comparison to Vodacom. I have listed them somewhere in the threads last year. The 2020 had 2 and 3 year contracts and last year had some good deals. This year?

2021 24month cycle upgrading from these packages : https://mybroadband.co.za/news/blac...vealed-double-data-and-cheap-smartphones.html I don't know if 2021 had good deal codes that boosted what was on regular BF offer .

Anyone tried upgrading through retentions to see if there are better deals on offer than those on app/website (appears to be standard upgrade options for all of us) ?
