MTN Black Friday Discussions

Have to admit that most of the stuff on offer from MTN really sucks this year (feels like they are truly trying to get rid of BF contracts from a certain period (I am 2016)).

Really tempted to switch over to vodacom (https://www.vodacom.co.za/shopping/...ntractSkus=DV3K07DAAB&contractSkus=DV3K07DAAH) as some posts over at that thread saying the sim can be inserted in any device even though vodacom says it cant. Doubt there is data share capabilities but with MTN limiting what you can do there, it doesn't seem like it will be of much benefit o me.Will also be getting a free modem so there's that as well.

Come on MTN, you can do better than what you have shown so far. Eitherway, will wait till monday to make up my mind as I am hoping that some tempting codes will be revealed by then.

I got a call from an agent now offering 10gb of data and 100minutes for R299... Which is worse than my current deal..

I asked her about the deal codes and she said she can't use anyone else's deal codes.

How do you guys get the deal codes to work? Is it for retentions only?

Tempting

spoke to a mtn consultant Lethabo
company has many lines to upgrade
gave her a few deal codes from this thread
she basically came back and said that each deal is tailor made for each client and the deals mentioned are only for consumer and not business and cannot assist (that was the end of the conversation) going to try another consultant and if that fails hoping vodacom has some decent deals

can't understand why mtn has to make this process so difficult
we with them for years

Struggled with 3 consultants...going to try again on Monday.
Ridiculous that they don't just provide upgrade online with the actual retention deals....they would keep a lot more active subscribers.

I applied (and did so again 2 weeks after the first try) for the 35Mbps home internet deal for R499.- almost 2 months ago and they never got back to me.

I'm really happy about that today though cause now I get 100Mbps for the same price from Vodacom.

Do some speed test please...

Spent hours on the line yesterday with retentions. Not only does it take a half hour+ to even find some of these deal codes, but when they find them, they offer a lot less than the other people received. And they aren't willing or able to customize the deals. I never got to a point where I felt like I was getting a real deal, so decided to skip the whole process. Their whole system is a sh#t show, takes 10 minutes of typing to get an answer on anything, and deals are all over the place. Can't they just come up with ONE standard decent deal to offer to everyone? Their current BF specials are lame. They are unable to adjust a SINGLE phone included deal, not even willing to add a little data.
To me, it doesn't really pay to stick with my current contract situation, so I'll probably go down to some random R150 a month deal and just buy data when I need it, and they can lose out on a few thou a month.
Just simply too much hassle to deal with these people anymore.

I'm also thinking of going to vodacom with the same deal... Please do a speedtest and let me know if it reaches 100mbps. Thanks!

Try again on monday.

The rep I spoke to (and a few friends had similar outcomes), admitted that he can't give me the retention deal on Black friday, only Black friday deals on black friday are allowed, so he'll process it on Monday when the retention deals are back on the menu again.

thanks
I need minutes also
So do they have new retention/cyber monday deals?

17GB + 525 All net Minutes per month @ R160 pm (36 months)
Quite pleased with this one, thanks lads.

Assume this is a retension deal ? Think I am going to sign up for the 18 month deal 10 gigs and 500 minutes for R 299 then just get a good retension deal / upgrade next year

Yup, but unfortunately they couldn't process retentions friday. Waiting for their call today to finalize it.
Retentions are definitely the way to go this year. Black friday deals some are saying Vodacom is better this year.
